very well said and a good point, zacsmum.  That's why professional handlers are paid so much money for shows.  They can make many dogs looks their best.

zacsmum, Is that your puppy?  What's his breeding please?  Are you in the UK?

Preston, I PM'd vom Patriot about a puppy he has called "Bob vom Patriot", (he's in "Users comments"), I also emailed the owner but got no reply.  Does he sell much?  I fell in love with this lovely boy but it looks as though he's not for sale!

As for Grisu... terrible... best to let him go now... to a good home............ mine!

Take a close look... he's stood very badly and they (whoever they are) should possibly have waited till they had a good photograph to post... but it looks like most of us can what he is anyway!

Misbeeb, I wish the pup were mine, one of the best blacks ive seen for a long time.  If he were in the U.K i would be counting out my pennies now and putting in an offer! He is gorgeous isnt he?

Quality will always out, no matter what.

I hate to pick on this guy in particular as I have not seen him in person tp make a proper decision, but for all those that think he is a puppy. He is actually 2 years old. I agree the stack is not helping but to me still a bit over done for what should be a GSD that can be the total working dog (isn't that the goal whether from working or show lines?). This guy should be just as agile as any other dog who works as a Patrol dog (for example) and can jump 4 ft fences, walk across a train tressel, climb ladders, all with ease, I doubt it. With that heavy bone alone, he will need help with such jumping, and depending on whther he is cow hocked, can't tell where he feet are, but then again, I guess "Show" dogs like this don't have to do such things.....

He's for sale for all who wish to own him.................

For all those who "live" by Max's dream, see Horand Vom Grafath. Certainly doesn't look like any of these dogs. Again, it is all what someone will breed and what becomes the "trend".

What we all need to do is come to terms with the fact that there are different "varieties" of our breed and everyone can buy what they want. If you want a Blk/Red "Show" Dog look, go buy it, if you want a straight or slightly angled, Sable GSD, go buy it, want a long coat, go buy it, etc. To each his/her own. You wouldn't buy a Ford Mustang to go Four wheeling would you? No, you'd buy a Bronco. Same make, different model. to each his own..............................................

Okay, for you hardcore WL folks.  Here is one of the all time greats.  Beat this one for superb conformation, beauty, agility, correct WL temperament, great croup, great front, good wither, excellent pigment.  Who say one can't have it all? Who wouldn't be thrilled to have a GSD like this in his home 24/7 ?

Very nice,

Thank you for sharing!      1996 looked like a good year for shepherd's.

Tina, chances are, nobody that's into / has working dogs is going to like the look of a dog like Grisu.  Most working people I know, really don't care what their dogs look like so long as they can do their job... that's fair enough!   However, his stack, as you call it, is not bad, it's dreadful.  His front legs are too far in front, his hind legs are stretched too far back and they are also too far apart; it all contributes to the ski slope look.  The photograph is not taken from a flattering angle either!

I'd say his bone looks pretty average but he's got a lot of coat... some feathering.

What breed looks the same as it did 100 years ago?

Hi Liz, He's lovely... I still keep harping on about Bob !

Not often you see an all black that looks like that eh?
