Liebe

by Liebe on 06 December 2008 - 16:12

Im too tight fisted to do the big blow out.  We have a lovely lunch but dont go overboard.  This year I've even got the excuse of our first puppies being a distraction and as such I've said I'm only doing the bare minimum!

Steve - In this house the Salmon would end up being fed to the dogs and cats as no one likes it!!

My favourite result of christmas is the left over turkey and stuffing sandwiches made from fresh bread and possibly a bit of leek and potato soup or similar. Am I lazy or what??

We start the day with a homemade Stollen & coffee with Jameson's, or tea for those who must go to work later, (like me, sigh), eggs benedict(my son-in-law's contribution), nova lox on cream cheese bagels for lunch, &  early dinner (I hope early enough for me to snitch a plate to take to work) leg 'o' lamb with garlic & red wine(substitute a haunch of venison if anyone got lucky--I mean stayed sober enough to shoot straight- this week). With wilted greens, red potato, sweet potato, salads, Yorkshire pudding with gravy, various vegetables,....& then later, desserts with more Jamied coffee...sigh, that's the part I'll miss working 3-11 this Christmas. Kids get presents, adults stuff each other with the very best food we can cook, LOL! And my son comes home with his lovely wife, home from Oregon. My granddaughter shows us video of her riding lessons- she's starting to jump-& all the dogs get big beefy bones to gnaw on all afternoon, & a romp in the snow with the kids from all over...then a long winter's nap.......Heaven! jh

Hey- as long as it's not a crazy busy night, it'll be fine. I'm mostly just jeolous of the moments spent with family you only get to see at this time of year. But I think of my patients, & their families, spending their last minutes together, ever....how can I begrudge them whatever comfort I can offer? And it truely puts your own life into perspective, how lucky I am, how precious time with loved ones is.......I paraphase poorly, but,  'what you do for the least of men, you do also for Me'..that's why I work Hospice, & the reason for the Season..Ho!Ho!Ho! So I wil be of Good Cheer, no matter what! Have a Merry Christmas! jackie harris

Chocolate liquor cups (about the size of a shot glass) fill with baileys or the liquor of your choice, a dash of whip cream and a cherry on top. Then you can follow up with Crown Royal on the rocks.

Ugly, I agree with the Drambui, good stuff.
