CRUFTS 2009 GOES ON WITHOUT THE BBC

No doubt SKY TV will be more than happy to pick up where the BBC has left off.

The documentary did raise valid concerns about certain breeds but as usual the politically correct  BBC has cut its nose off to spite its face.

Crufts is spot on telling them to go forth and multiply, you can't have broadcasters dictating what can and can't be shown.

The channel Horse and Country often show dog shows maybe they will pick up where the BBC has walked away in a strop!

Who do the BBC think they are??  They have effectlively shown doggy racism with asking the KC to remove the following dogs from Crufts -

Basset hound
Clumber spaniel
Dogue de Bordeaux
Mastiff
Neopolitan mastiff
Pekingese
Rottweiler
Shar pei
St Bernard
Chow chow
German shepherd
Bulldog
Rhodesian ridgeback
Cavalier spaniel

The BBC should remember that they are paid for by the license payers - maybe they should have asked the "public" before taking action.

On the other hand I've known many exhibitor wish the cameras would sod off so maybe its a blessing in disguise!

I agree that Crufts made the right decision, and i do hope some other channel takes it up. Not everyone can go to this dog show for various reasons, and love watching the tv show. Rather sad if it will no longer be televised. As to the documentary, valid points were raised, but as already said, it was extremely biased. I hope that the KC get somewhere with thier complaint to offcom against the BBC. liz

Maybe the BBC could help a great deal... by showing a truthful and balanced programme about pedigree dogs and their breeders, instead of the hogwash we were subjected to earlier in the year.

If the BBC want to help... they could ask the KC to back the recent proposals put to them by our Breed Council.

Don't worry wuzzup, another TV ch will certainly pick up the option.  We might even see some more of the dogs and less of the dreary presenters!
