I'm looking to get another puppy in 2010-2011 that will be more suited for the SchH feild. If you know of any dogs or good breeders that I could possibly look into that would be great. Looking for solid temperment, nerves, drive, and more importantly HEALTH!

Let me know if you can help...

E-mail me if you would like.

Also questions I should ask to the breeder would be great as well...

Thanks again.

Do you want to purchase locally or are you open to shipping? If locally, how far are you willing to drive, and what state do you live in?

If you want  a pup for schutzhund, I would watch videos, go to trials, watch dogs at your local club to get an idea of the "type" of dog you like, and then look into those dogs' bloodlines. Asking what bloodline to recommend is like asking was brand of cereal to pick out at the grocery store.  I would of course look for breeders who only used titled and breed surveyed dogs in their breeding program. United schutzhund Clubs of America has a great list to start with, although research carefully:
http://germanshepherddog.com/breed/breeders.htm. Ideally the breeder should be involved in the sport and work their dogs themselves in order to gain a clear picture of each dog's strengths and weaknesses, and keeping back thier own pups for working/competing and titling. A breeder who looks away from their own breeding program for their next "prospect", to me, is a red flag.

Get references from the breeders, and thoroughly check them out. IMO, the integrity of the breeder is more important than a particular bloodline or any guarantee.

I hope this helps..good luck!

Find the local clubs and start going now.  You'll get to see how dogs are worked and if the club fits you.  Sometimes you will visit two or three clubs to find the right one.  Once you find the right club for you, you can talk with the members and see who they recommend as a breeder.  Where did they get their dogs?  There may be a good breeder that's a member.

There are quite a few good working line breeders here.  Whatever club you find could well be recommending one.

I am already apart of a club with my male. I am also talking to a few members of the club about their pups and where they got theirs. They also told me to keep a clear mind and look at a few people to get the pup from.

I'm willing to drive anywhere, actually! I want to form a good bond with the breeder and let them know where the pup would be going.

Thank you so much for the site! :)

Which working line are you looking at......Czech, DDR, Belgium, etc? Is there a particular pedigree that you like or a particular color? What state are you located in?

Sorry to butt in but what are those all black with tan marking dogs called? Czech lines? The ones with black bodies and a few tan markings on the legs.

Like Troll von der bosen Nachbarschaft.

Bi colors? Although Troll isnt a Czech dog, I think that is the color you were refering too?

Chico and Troll are both west german working lines...
Here is an example of a few nice Czech dogs....
Ozzy Barnero...

Galant z Pohranicni Straze..
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/443335.html
Erri z Blatenskeho Zamku...who is the sire to 1 of my Czech females...
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/473094.html

I have 2 Czech females. I have noticed that the Czech dogs seem to be alot more serious in their work. They are a little more on the defensive side.  They were originally bred as border patrol dogs. So they seem to still be the kick ass and take names later type.  Most of the Czech dogs are mixed with a little west german working lines though.

The solid black dogs can be Czech, DDR, west working line, etc.

Hope this helps
