i have a panda german sheperd and i do consider a rare breed, because he came from 2 full breed german shepards..and they do look nice..

You came here to say that, Let me tell you, there WILL BE NO , I repeat NO pat on the back here.

PLUS, I think you are lookin for the German SHEPERD, or SHEPARD forum, so you certainly are on the wrong message board!

panda, worse than white.  amazing how many people have no idea what a breed stadard is, yet alone what the standard is for the GSD.

They remind me of an oversize Australian Cattle dog, maybe they are GSD crossed with these.

I have only known one personally, and I've gotta say once you get past the coloring he "behaves" very much like  other shepherds, and if the german shepherd death scream where the deciding factor, lol,  he had that perfected.   I agree they are not recognized according the standard, but are they genetically gsd?   It was a hard sell for me at first but I'd believe it of this boy.   I'll see if I've got some of his candid pics. around...

Nope :-)  ACDs do not have solid color patterns such as these dogs.  The have a speckling pattern or a mottling pattern but nothing like this.  My site has examples of the usual ACD coloring: http://psychtkennel.com

what is a "german shepherd death scream"?   granted puppies make all kind of noise, but i cant say i have ever heard an adult do anything but bark.

if this were a natural color why havent we ever seen it before?  the breeds a hundred years old.  cant say i ever heard of this color pattern showing up before.

as if having white shepherds werent enough.

the color has shown up before, but its been many many generations removed from the breed we know today.   the dogs who are responsible for the foundation of this breed, some did have this coloring, along with brindle dogs and even dilute colored ones.  So it is possible for the color to lie dormant for soo many generations.   Even the color white had an important role in the developement of our breed.

I have seen a mostly white bitch once, the only color was a black patch on her face, the rest of her was solid white.  and this is a pure bred, DNA'd gsd.

Frosy, What do you do with your panda? Schutzhund, Ring, OB, Rally, agility, flyball, what? You know, it was sometimes amusing/some times aggravating to have people ask me what breed my sable male is-"is that a wolf?" I cannot even begin to imagine what John Q. Public asks you in the street/park/mall. :-)
