Yes, the weather held, & I'm a little crispy around the edges from the sun....but the seminar was wonderful, the judge from the day before was a wonderful & personable instructor. He was able to make you feel better about even the dumbest thing that  he watched you (meaning me! LOL!) do, & was all about the dogs. A wonderful judge of both human & canine character! And a what a wealth of knowledge! He was from Belgium, & his name was Vic Wilms.
Shelley said that Beckett saw God today....the end of his goofball ways, time to get serious! Every one learned a lot, & some got to see huge & immediate improvements in their dogs behaviours, & in their handling skills! A worthwhile expenditure of time & effort!
I'll have to go over the pictures with Shelley, I can't remember everyone's names, I just remember that the dog in the photo was an older bitch, & they were saying, 'oh, she'll never be able to jump up, go easy on her'...well, she's clearly airborne in that picture! LOL! Look out for us older, slightly fluffy gals! jackie harris BTW-Thanks! I had great fun taking pictures, & I got a lot of great shots! ( now if only I can get them to load, maybe Shelley will have better luck!)jh

Our very first trial did turn out to be a very fun weekend, despite me being a nervous wreck before hand. LOL The weather was beautiful all weekend, right down to the calm, cool morning for tracking and the nice breezes in the afternoons. I don't have time for a full report just now, only a few words, but I will send a trial report to the WDA magazine.

Thank You!

First, I want to thank SV/FCI Judge Vic wilms, (who will be in Indiana next weekend judging a trial) for being absoultely wonderful  throughout the event! Our Regional Director and long-time friend Mike Andrel, (Delaware Valley Police & Working dog Association-WDA) and Uwe Miksche, certified helper from their club, came up to help us out in protection, worked dogs in the trial (and at the lunch break)  for the benefit of spectators and participants alike. Mike was instrumental in helping us form this little club from Day One. We are fortunate to have him in our region. Uwe stayed all day, helped with the traffic portion of the BH and then worked dogs tirelessly, all afternoon. Mike Bailey (official photographer for the AWDF Championship this year) took probably 1,000+ pix, which will be posted on his website: www.mikebaileyphotography.com.

I also want to thank all the people who bravely stepped onto the trial fields, hearts in hands (and stomachs too?) Thank you Steve House for trusting us with your novice and first-time handlers. each of whom was a joy to have here and went home with success! You gals are awesome! Can't wait to see what great things the future will bring for you!
Special thanks to Jackie for bringing the awesome lunch we've been touting for weeks. The potato salad was indeed all that we said it would be. I kept the leftovers (there wasn't much left!), stingy to the core about Jackie's cooking. My husband and our neighbor were in their element at the smoker grill. we're going to be enjoying the results for days. :-D Dot brought an awesome pasta-shrimp salad for Sunday. :-)))) We might not be the best dog trainers in the country here at Bosen Kinder, but damn, can we cook or not?!

The seminar Seminar Sunday was extrmemly helpful and informative. We kept the cost low ($50. per dog/handler team, $25. per spectator)  in light of the economy and in order to include anybody (working or not! LOL) to participate. Of course Mother's Day took its toll on attendance, but we had a pretty good turn-out non-the-less. I am happy to note that we had no spectators because everybone present was very excited to participate with their dogs. Most dogs were worked several times throughout the day, various issues addressed in seperate sessions, with super discussion between dogs.

Vic has an incredible wealth of knowledge he clearly enjoys sharing with dogs and handlers. He has a gift for making concepts crystal clear, in a supportive, encouraging way, so results come FAST! I was fascinated by his method of teaching novice helpers proper sleeve presentation technique. I have never seen that taught so simply and accurately! By the time he was done, even this old broad was tempted to don the dreaded sleeve and look at our sport from the one angle I have always avoided. If you get an opportunity to work with Vic, I highly recommend you take advantage of it!

As promised, we didn't charge for beverages. Thanks to Julz, Jackie & Richard for donating water, soft drinks, and BEER!

I'll try to post more later.
Again, thanks to all who made our event a resounding success! We look forward to seeing you all here again next time as you advance in your Schutzhund/dog sport training careers.

And I should add that it was a blast meeting some of the PDB posters face to face, every one was wonderful. Good sportsmanship & comeraderie were the common bonds between us; not a sour apple in the bunch! Congratulations to those who titled their dogs, and congratulations to every one else, for the amazingly upbeat & genuinely encouraging attitudes! Good work, everyone!jh
