EMTBStephanie, I could understand what you are trying to say but if this stuffs make your stomach ill then how can you survive by being a medic tech?? being too sensitive doesn't help either. http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos101.htm

lol...I almost had soda coming through my nose on that...thx for the laugh :) Brittany: You've just driven my point home. I see enough violence at work, don't need to see more of it when I am home. Kudos to you for staying on this board when everyone would love to see you gone. You've got a spine, girl ;)

oops...didn't mean to say "everyone", came out wrong (sorry). Type a bit too fast sometimes ;)

EMTBStephanie, I know couple of Paramedics... just by the stuffs that they see... you can only imagine of how strong you have to be in order to become an EMT :D I was wanting to become an EMT but somehow my personality changed and the stuffs that i use to see.. kinda makes me sick... so thats out of the question on my part :( Im always interested in the medical field, but stress and anxiety is the main key thats keeping me back :( lol Nobody on this forum will ever try to make me leave.. Unless if I get banned from this forum, somehow. I have dedicated this website by adding up new pedigrees that wasn't there before and adding in new pictures... all of that work i had volunteered to do... think i deserve to be here just like anybody else :) I ignore the ones who contuines bashing me... it's funny how most of the "Brittany" bashers are mostly pet quality owners and haven't even titled a dog before.. It really shows you the quality people here, yanno? :)

Next time someone wants to post a URL showing graphic violance against an animal or human, it sure would be swell of them to also list a warning to those of us who might be offended by it and who would not access if they knew the content. Is that asking too much of adults on a public board? Also, decoyD, your second URL was not much appreciated either, but I'm sure you thought it was just hilarious.

Hi! Just to let you know. The dog bite happened in the netherlands and I understand that much of their language that this dog bit his owner and he did not get him under control anymore and so he asked the cop to shoot the dog. Very best regards Terry

DecoyD, I don't think you could have gotten that dog off with a simple break stick. JMO. I don't think you would have had the opportunity in that situation. We don't know anything about the background of that dog, what happened before, during. We only know the after. And I seriously doubt you could have gotten the dog off and under control without turning on someone else.

Sunshine, I most definately could have gotten the dog off and under control with a parting stick in my free hand. The man under attack had presense of mind, he just didnt know what to do. Parting sticks are a handy tool to have working any breed. With Pits its a must. Im not necessarily talking about getting them off myself or another human, although they can be used in that situation as well. Two handlers can break up any dogfight with parting sticks, causing no harm to the dogs or handlers either one, if they know what they are doing. I have handled Pits much, much faster, agile, and more serious than the poor buckskin in the video.

Terry1, If this is true of what you are trying to tell us... then shame on the owners... This dog was not a bad dog but was handled by a irresponsible handler! You cant blame the dog for what he did. Too bad the cops didn't shoot the owners as well... I just hope that this owner never owns a dog again... to save this from happening AGAIN!. decoyD, can you tell us more about this "parting sticks" I don't understand what you are talking about in this department... Can you elaborate more on this?

First off, any Pit that bites a child or his owner should be culled immediately. This is not a trait of a well bred Pitbull. This video shows why Pits are outlawed in Holland. Parting sticks or breaking sticks have been used for centuries to break dogs in hold during a fight. We feed over 40 dogs and have an animal rescue. The dogs and cats get the best of feed as we butcher our own beef and each dog gets tons of love. All the dogs have their own likes and dislikes and Jealousies. We have a Maineiche bitch that is very dog aggressive and sooo Jealous. She hates our yellow lab and vice versa. If an accident happens and they end up lose, they will hit each other like darts to a dart board. I have a grandson of Cello that is this way and a couple of other males and a few Pits this way as well. Once they are in holds my wife and I straddle the dog we are handling. While firmly straddling the dog with your legs behind the rib cage and firmly controlling the head with a deep grasp by the scruff of the neck you reach in with your free hand and use the parting stick to pry the dogs mouth open. Keep the slack tight and once their holds are broken, get them away from each other. With Pits not so much, but with other breeds keep control off the had while you are getting them away from each other because if they are fresh, they will still be in high drive trying to get to the other dog and may snap at the handler.. If a dog had my arm as in the video(and its happened twice in my lifetime). With my free hand I would have to gain some control by a deep grasp of his scruff. I would then have to get around to straddle him.(not easy but do-able. If I had a parting stick in my back pocket I could then reach around and break him off my arm. Of course this cur is in high drive and I will have to keep straddling him and control his head with a strong grip on both sides of his head behind the cheeks. At this time I could use some help or if no help was available since the dog had a collar on I could choke him out. Its not a pretty situation, and like I say I dont even believe in Pitbulls doing bite work, but a Pit that bites a child or his owner, needs to be culld hard. Scroll down on this site and you will see the parting sticks. If one works with dogs they are handy to have around in case of emergencies. http://obriensk9supply.com/catalog/print_catalog.php
