A very young friend who is traveling was staying in Junction City when her 10 month old puppy escaped/was let out of her motel room. He is an import she has only had for about two weeks. We need help on the ground and on the phones and internet.
1. If you are in the area or know anyone in the area we need bodies to walk and drive and talk to people in the hope he can be spotted or found.
2. We need to id and locate contact information for ANY dog clubs/groups within a 2 hour radius that may be able to help with the search or checking their local shelters /rescue groups and identifying local newspapers or web bulletin boards that a Lost notice can be posted on or identifying local tv and radio stations that may be able to help. So if you know of a Sch club or a breed club ( even another breed) or obedience or agility or herding or any dog sport please help connect them with this search.
3. If you are familiar with the area and might know where a scared dog would run to please contact us.
4. If you are familiar with the area and can tell us what communities we should widen our search to and how to do that , please contact us.

The dog is a young intact male, dark black and tan - almost a bicolor. He is microchipped but we are not sure if  US scanners will read his chip that had not been tested yet. His call name is Stryker.

I am in California but will be fielding calls and trying to coordinate help so my friend's phone is left open for sighting reports.
Please if you can help in anyway or have suggestions that can help us in this search. please let us know. A police report has been filed, the shelter contacted, fliers created. There has been one sighting and I suggested she take a t shirt back there an leave it as a marker for him to find.

Contact by phone is preferable - I have very slow internet.  Beth 559 930-5012

Thank you all for your suggestions. Unfortunately he is still missing. The WDA club was too far away to be of help but the USA Regional Directer Joanne is going to contact Kassandra with what help she can. (Thank you Joanne for returning my call and stepping up)

We still do need people on the ground to help look for him and I could use help in identifying any dog friendly or oriented club within a 2 hour radius to get folks who can post flyers in their own area and walk shelters etc since we all know that a lost dog can turn up hundreds of  miles away.

I could also use a media expert to help find away to get their story on the news(TV, radio, paper). IT should have the right elements - very young military wife in area on business, husband in Iraq, young dog still new to this country and owner - stolen ( yes it looks like he may have been or an attempt may have been made that he escaped from). But I need to find a way to get our foot in the door never mind identifying the media outlets.

Since she is a military wife if any of you know how to traverse that system to get her some temporary help ( food shelter - her resources are thin since she was traveling and not expecting to stay beyond Saturday night) please please give me a call. I've called Ft. Riley since it is close but it was closed today ( how can an army base be closed????) due to some sort of holiday and basically I got the pass the problem along shuffle tho all were very polite and very nice jsut not very effective or helpful. I know they have to have some sort of emergency help resources but for the life of me I couldn't get to them.

Steph, thank you for your offer of posting him on your site. Please list him as lost/possibly stolen. I will email you a picture. He is not a LC but a working bred puppy in that awful horrible gawky stage of life. The most distinctive thing about him is an odd L shaped white patch on his chest.

I will try to load his picture in the next window since I tried on this one and lost the whole message. If I can't get it loaded perhaps Steph will load it for us.  Thanks again. Please add your prayers that Kassandra and Stryer find there way back together again.

Steph, You are the bomb. Something you sent out made it's way to the Kansas Missouri GSD rescue folks and they called today. One of their people was going to be in Junction City today so she will help in the search AND they are going to send out a flyer to all THEIR affiliated rescue groups. This is huge. Thank you thank you.

I can still use help with press releases and media outlets. Anyone with experience, please contact me.

Please check out the MOGS site http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/mogsrescue.html .  Even if you are in East OshKosh Anywhere in the world and feel there is nothing you can do - you can send them a thank you for the work they do (and to Steph also). MOGS has 75 rescue Shepherds they are trying to place right now. If you have the werewithal - even $5 or $10 can make the difference in saving a dog's life. Tell them it's a thank you for their help in trying to find Stryker and for all the good work they do.

The power of one really does work because one plus one plus one plus....... makes a difference.

Thank you again.  Beth
