At the risk of piling on Maggie, why was it, in your opinion of course, that the gunfire was eliminated from the BH routine and the "Attack on Handler" out of the blind dropped from the SchHI "Contact/Engagement" test?  This shouldn't be hard to answer, but be careful, you don't want to give the, "guns should be completely eliminated from the world anyway",  and that "no one should have the right to jump out and startle me and my "beautiful" Tippy and interrupt our  pleasant stroll' answers.

Say what you will about that video, The Dog was supposed to Guard not attack but its nerves got the better of it Plus the handler did not call the Dog back if she did you could not hear it,
Plus it was like waiting for paint to dry before she got her brain into gear then did little, A case of bad handling and teaching the Dog
But still the Dog attacked when it was supposed to Guard ONLY, most of you folks do not seem to see that
If that happened over here the handler would not train the dog again without a line being on it, that is certain and they are no mamy pambys over here just do things the right way they take it very seriously there are no room for mistakes and you do things right, You can have the Dog in the USA as one poster asked but you will not better your breeding by having it

I will if i can persude the person to let me take a photo of his arm what a real dog bite is, He nearly lost his arm through it
The Dog was up and bit and left the arm in a split second, but he bit through to the bone and as for the wag on here who says they only bite a sleeve Bloody rubbish, this Guy was standing by the Dog and its handler he just lifted his arm to scratch his head and the dog reacted instantly to the movement had his arm and left it in an instant but the bite requied 16 stiches and 6 months daily care by nurses,
Was the Guys impressed not a bit of it  not like some fools on here

Here is a video of Pike....I love watching this. He is a very nice workingline dog. To me this is a REAL GSD.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehGjpi4bV68&feature=related

I have both "types" of GSD....I have one showline male and 2 Czech females. My boyfriend has a DDR/showline male and a DDR/WGR/Czech pup. I am very happy with my showline male. He has awesome drives and has very nice conformation. The same goes for my WL females too.

But I am not going to get started on the WL vs the SL. Since this is NOT what this topic is about.

I just looked at the video. The helper is an idiot, the handler is even a bigger dumbass and the "spectators" might as well have been glued to the bleachers. I don't know what the fuck this is, but training it isn't.

I like that dog, though.

VA is the total package.....god, that's funny.

So, dogs with noch zuglessen hips that have poor work and oversize progeny are the total package as long as they make a VA? How naive are you? Do you really think every dog with a VA is deserving of one? Do you think every dog with passing scores in their scorebook earned it? You may want to get some real world experience before you pass judgement, Maggie.

I am not arguing show vs work with you, I love my showlines. But there are problems with these dogs, big ones, and they are only getting worse. If you love them too, wake up.

Ease up there Steve, you are describing 2 different scenarios, one being during bite training and the other what seems to have been a "social" setting where an innocent body reached up to perform a very normal "social" behavior.  The situation in the video was during what the dog perceives as battle.  Sure the dog should have been on lead on the second approach to the blind, I already mentioned that earlier.  The problem here, as I see it was, the helper nonchalant-ed the exercise and "assumed" the easy/proper way to correct the dog's "mistake" (and I don't see it as a dog mistake, the handler with the aid of additional helpers taught the exercise, right or wrong) was by giving it a shot between the horns.  Problem was, the helper was stuck in the blind with nowhere else to go, the dog had the advantage working it's way to the helper's stick side, and the guy WAY overestimated his hand speed to be able to do the maneuver.  The dog saw the threat coming and he beat it, plain and simple.  As mentioned earlier, perfect behavior for a PPD or Police K9, see the threat and neutralize it.  I don't see it as a nerve issue, just bad training on both handler and helper's parts.  After all, that's a Malinois, not a sluggish show dog that has "Beautiful Gait".  As for being "over there", what constitutes "over there"?  If you mean across the pond, the dog is over there!!!  If you mean just in Belgium, I didn't know that the Belgian's had cornered the market on dog training and the rest of us are just aspiring.  No offense intended, I know I have a "reputation".

Yes, and you know what they say about opinions....you need to get out there and learn more if you want to make valid points in a fact based conversation.

Steve i do not know what you are going on about .It is a dog not a  big brain english man,it thinks like a dog and if you do not teach it properly what you wantb it to do it would think for himself, and i think even an intelligent person like you can understand that.these are working dogs and they supposed to use their head and this dog did and if human beings are this stupid they should get bit.Stop crying this is a sport and every sport you get hurt when you play, come on do i have to spell all this for you. This is an awesome dog you just too used to seeing heavely trained shutzhund dogs that is all .Enjoy when you see things like that. have a nice one.
