I didn't say KILL the toads, I said keep them away!  I'll let you take over though, you seem to be the expert.

Sorry to harp on this YR, but I'm still thinking Moons' idea is good with the barrier.
And Moons, good idea on the flashlight taped to the sharpened garden hoe.

GSDTravels,
I know you did not say KILL, and if I were an expert I'd surely have a piece of paper framed on my wall stating my expertise.

Toads would not be any easier to keep away than anything else.
They like the lights because of insects and they like water bowls and wet spots, cool hiding places in summer heat.

I just hate to see people struggle when simple things will do.

Sorry if I ruffled your feathers, that was not my intent.
I know how I am and how others see me at times, but mostly I just wanted to help.

Moons.

Yes,Tuff:

I just got in from mowing more leaves...grass is all down but Still need to weed eat two fences and around the back of barn.  Using round up on it after I get down...I did the round up on two other places.. My property is all trees and heavy shade so grass is not the problem   ...under brush , and leaves by the mountains..this is my 4 th mowing so I am mulching like crazy.  Today I picked up sticks and made a path around the house for no reason but to disturb the dirt .. Still have lots to  rake out from UNDER and to treat the ground cover in front yard.

Off the the Balloon races in Longview for a rest..It is HOT but anything but mowing and dirt and leaves...

I still have lots of places needing attention.. no pampas grass but lots of   monkey grass in front yard and ground cover.
Will be buying another big bag of sulfur on Monday..

My neighbor who has 600 acres and a house sitting right down the hill from me  says the sulfur does the job but it takes mega  bags of it and keeping it up....her maid says  burn those rags in piles of leaves  at evening time...near the house or the barn since the barn has metal and equipment on ground and the scent and smoke will keep them going somewhere else.

Ok  out for fun finally.
Moons :  I would not kill toads but there are hundreds of both big ones and tiny ones all over my property.   Funny looking ones , cream colored ones, and even tree frogs and even bull frogs out in back by the fig trees as the creek goes behind my property and they must come over for the bugs by the trees.

Please be careful when using moth balls...

...They will kill your dogs and cats!!!!

One vet of mine told me if a cat gets closed in a closet containing moth balls that you will have to euthanize it... Because of the vapors in the moth balls are so toxic that the cat will suffer horribly.

Moth balls are made of benzene and it's not good for soil or ground water either.

LD,

That's easier said than done, moving like that.  Selling land can be a challenge these days with the economy being what it is.  Then you have to find another parcel and buy it, and set it all up for dogs. There are lot of other things, too, that are just plain exhausting...Anyone who's ever moved knows what a pain it is, and it's even more so when you have multiple big dogs!

Big chore and not one I'd want to undertake myself, though I might consider it if I had snakes like Yellowrose does!

MOVING MAY BE MY NEXT OPTION

iT WILL TAKE TIME.  i AM DEBT FREE SO I WANT TO REMAIN THAT WAY..........................A BIGGY

AND I WILL HAVE TO GEAR DOWN TO LESS DOGS.

SELLING THIS PROPERTY MAY OR MAY NOT BE EASY....LESS EXPENSIVE THAN 200,000.00 IS A BETTER NUMBER TO SELL RIGHT NOW..

THINGS OVER THAT ARE NOT SELLING AT ALL

SO I WILL JUST HAVE TO RESEARCH..MY DAUGHTER WAS A TOP REALTOR FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND SHE CAN THROW THIS PROPERTY AND THE NUMBERS OUT AND SEE WHAT WE COME BACK WITH..

i AM ALL EARS....  i CANNOT AFFORD TO LIVE IN THE CITY...AND HAVE TO HAVE CLEAN HOME AND MUST HAVE TREES.

SMALL LOT WITH A NICE CABIN , CLEAN , NEWER, AND ON  CITY WATER BUT OUT IN COUNTY SO i CAN DO AS i PLEASE ......

HERE ARE TWO PICS OF THE BALLOONS THAT WERE NEW TO THE BALLOON RACES  SATURDAY/

These balloons have  Lounge chairs  instead of a basket , traditionally used in a balloon.   THe one with the ballons was especially colorful.  The other baloon  is not as bright but the only ones we say fly..Had to be there at dawn and not this girl. The pilot is sitting in a lounge chair not a basket.

Night Glow was beautiful but  I do not have a camera fit to take that kind of pic.]

The heat was 102* and the heat index was 124*.  We sat in the truck for two hours with air before we set up for the night glow.

Gregg CO. Airport is close to the deer lease where the rattlers were killed in the above picture...I was not worried as there were several thousand people and all kinds of cars, vehicles all over so not a serpent in sight.
