Pepsii got bit tonight and here is the dead copperhead that got her. I came in to post and got an email from old friend , and I am ready to bail!
Deer Lease
From a man in Gregg County, TX:
I took a lease on a piece of land where there are plenty of deer roaming around. I put up a stand in a nice place where several game trails cross; but because of some obstacles I encountered getting to my stand last Saturday, I've decided to forego any more attempts at bagging a trophy deer this year... So, if anybody wants my deer stand for the rest of the year, it's open to any one who would like to take a stab at it.
My heart can't take another day like last Saturday!!!

What gets me is I walked right up on the sucker, and opened her kennel , she bounced out with glee hungry and dancing and ran to house and back . I stepped in her kennel to dump her stainless steel bowl and get ready to fill it...I had a can of food in hand and she ran back at me and screamed... She is very vocal but this was a quick yelping scream... I looke down and stepped back and saw it move...I had no shovel in hand but Had the pooper scooper shovel and I beat it to death..
Brought her in and let out the black bitch hoping she wouldnt get bit and then put her in Pepsii's kennel as I was not cleaning anyones kennel at midnight when I cannot see.. I took DE and spred it on the front side but left the back open so I did no good...I am gonna sulfur the perimeter of the pens today in 100 * heat. I give up...THis is too much for me ..I am so tired and getting more irritable every day. The man I date does not work in heat...ha ha ha .....and he is not a dog man as far as more than two....ha ha ha.....so he can just sit and play cards and I will find someone who will come help.... I am not giving all my kids aways because of some lousy serpents..I am mowing around and around until the man I hired last week can do his big mowing...I hired a man with a commercial to get it mowed every three weeks...he is not a young man 84yrs old...but he has a helper and a big commercial ...he know nothing about snakes but to stay in the city he said....ha ha ha
Moth balls are today being dumped under my house and sulfur everywhere..
My dogs would kill mongoose or guineas in a minute...Can you pen a guinea or mongoose or train them to come when called to put them up...I could turn them loose on property but sure would make lots of hours of extra work letting dogs in and out.
Is sulfur ok for dogs to walk on...One lady at feed store said do not let the dogs get into the sulfur...???? I never had a problem before in front yard and they walked on it two summers..???? MY rings and sterling silver bracelet were ruined with it.???
The family that lost MelloDees pup are putting sulfur all over their land too so I wonder.. Every one says Buy snake kill...well, hate to be frugal but the main ingredient in snake kill that sells for a ridiculous amount is SULFU

Here they breed in late fall.
A safe snake barrier still might be a good idea.
Sorry about the dog.

I must remember never go outside without boots. even to my truck to get my purse or to unlock my front gate or even put water in a bowl. uggggggggggggggggggggg
I just do not have any idea how a snake barrier on my land would even help me or dog...my place is spread and trees every 5 foot . with a creek behind me in one corner of my property a barrier would only stop them in the small place I fence. The one gsd I would have out with me for my protection would still get bit and the whole front patio area for the cockers and me to walk in still full of copperheads..Abby got bit in that area last MAY and my son in law killed on in the ivy which is ground cover. I cannot live in an unbrella.. I may find out about guineas and see if I can make that work...since no neighbors to speak of ., the dogs barking at the guineas would just have to do. I can turn up the music.
I was told cats are good but I do not like cats.
Off to pour sulfur and mow ..Mowing is not scaring them off for sure..I am actually mowing dirt and leaves now. grass is short and dying as our rain quit and it is very dry.
And if I run up on a rattler or a water moccasin I am LEAVING>

YR, some sort of barrier that Moons mentioned might be worth looking into, in order to have a safe place for the dogs.
I have heard about a snaker repellent that isn't chemical. It uses vibrations into the ground. I don't know how well it works or if it would be something that would work for your setup, but thought I'd mention it.
Sorry to hear about all of your trouble with these snakes.

People do the same thing for poultry to keep predators out.
