Sorry, but I have to chime in on this again. I'm sure a few of you here remember an article in the USA magazine with the Karthago kennel. Now here is a breeder that we can say is on the level with some of the best in the world, no? He stated that some of his best dogs were not what he considered the pick of the litter. I think Fado was considered #5 male in his litter. Others were #3 and so on. My point is that some of the best breeders in the world cannot predict 100% what they have in a pup. That is why I want to know what age you cull your litter. I want to be educated by someone that has this knowledge.

I thought you were gonna go off on a specific breed tho.
Any breed will do.
There is no age limit, it's an ongoing process.    Part of the equation involves costs, and eliminating various faults.
So....... you figure he kept 5?  was that the whole litter?
In the end, it's about which one will be used for breeding, that takes time.

 This is a pretty pointless thread, because 99% of participants, myself included, do not possess the direct knowledge to debate/argue accurately. 

Abhay is the exception. 

The rest of you don't have enough info, REAL info, to say you're for or against. This is not a level playing field, as there are far more layers to this mess than any of you really know. 

Might as well let SP and DDR-BSC battle it out...NoCurs is too smart to go at it directly with Abhay, so this thread is going nowhere except the toilet, where most threads on this board end up lately.

Moons, I'm sure it is just a coincidence. But why are you on here? Are you going to add your thoughts or are you here to post the SSDD? I'm sorry, but I'm trying to learn. I haven't said she's wrong or a bad person. I'm simply looking for answers from a very knowledgable person, who happens to be the author of a book. I thought that is why we come here. To share knowledge. Or is it to bitch about bug bites and bust some foreigners balls for posting an ad on a dog board? Honestly, if you have any knowledge on the topic, please chime in. If not, please let those that do practice culling add their thoughts.

Jenny78, What is to know? If you have pups in your litter that suck, place em in a pet home for free and stop breeding your garbage dogs. If it is for medical reasons, fine. If it is because of "cost" as TwoMoons stated, stop fricken breeding. If it is because you have too many pups and can't find homes, stop breeding.

You just don't understand the practice Sam,
I'm not talking about breeders raising pups for the market place.
I'm talking about breeders who are breeding for something else, each has his own vision of what he seeks in an animal.
It doesn't have to be dogs, could be any animal.
They Cull and have no intentions of selling to anyone.
They don't leave their responsibility to others.

Sam Culling has it's purpose, some people don't agree but that doesn't change the practice, it's as old as time and man's dominion over the beasts.

 Sam, the title of the thread is the topic I was referring to- who Diane Jessup really is- her agenda, her practices, etc. vs. what she appears to be if you just read her website. I wasn't talking about culling; that's just a tangent that the thread went off on. There is plenty to know, and plenty of people who have far more background knowledge. I'm not saying I agree w/everyone's reasons for disliking or even hating NoCurs, but I am saying that if people are going to give the benefit of the doubt, give it to EVERYONE- even those who appear to be just "bashing"; they may really know something you don't. They may not, but before you jump on one side or another, consider how much you truly KNOW and not just what you've read, and if you take what you've read into consideration, consider the source.
