Is there anyone here who has any information on Mink or owns any dogs from his bloodline? I am about to get a female from his bloodline and she's pretty impressive. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I do not know much about 'Mink,' but I have come across some websites with information about him and some dogs carrying his name in their bloodlines, so I thought you might like to see them! Here they are.. Sites about Mink: http://www.geocities.com/heartland/plains/4825/mink.html http://www.hoggatt.com/pedigrees/brisanz/mink.htm http://www.gsd-rabbits.de/at-mink.html Some of Mink's offspring: http://www.leerburg.com/otis.htm http://www.mistyridge.com/lewis.htm http://members.aol.com/RRWRRW/DWR_Lewis.html http://www.duitseherders.com/foto-lewis.html Bloodlines Mink's name appears in: http://www.ustk9.com/merik.htm http://www.sontausen.com/ira.html http://www.canineconcepts.com/iwo.html Hope this helps and good luck with your female!

I own a Mink granddaughter (out of Lewis Malatesta), what kind of info are you looking for?

I own a Mink great grandaughter through Crok Erlenbusch. My understanding was Mink carries a lot of hunt drive / not selected for in shutzhund. Doesnt he occur in a LOT of working line dogs? My understanding was the caveat for heavy linebreeding is potentially low thresholds (but that is second hand - I have no personal knowledge of this)

I'm seriously considering doing a 3-3 linebreeding on Mink (Crok son to my Lewis daughter). While you will see Mink a bit, you will see even more Fero. From discussions I've had with people, if you're going to do a heavy linebreeding on a "modern" dog, Mink is one of the ones to do it on. A breeder in Belgium (that is on a bloodlines list that I moderate) did a tight linebreeding on him and got very good results (sire was 2-2 Mink, I believe the dam had him 3rd gen, so that would make it a 3,3-4). The things I like about my Lewis daughter is the calm demeanor, VERY strong nerves, and she gets into drive quick, but I need to improve upon hips with her and she's a little long in the body for my tastes. She also can take a strong correction without diminishing drive. If you do a pedigree search for Brisanz Wolters, you will see her pedigree and picture.

Sometimes I have trouble replying in the right place --I would love to learn more about Mink myself -- my puppy (Cyra vom Alyeska) is also on the database (no pix and she will not be bred) is a total outcross so I am not sure how much contribution one great grandfather will really have or one instance of Crok as grandfather Very nice pix on your dog. Anyway -- she is very calm in the crate / TOTAL wild child out of it -- very hard -- fears nothing --- high prey drive -- doing well with early SAR training (not doing shutzhund / not breeding either) -- a total handful elsewise. Good nose / first day cleared the backyard (woods) of bones left by other dog. (pile of about 30 fragments)

I have a pup linebred 2-3 on Mink! I love him. He is 1 of seven males. They were all very nice! ron

Randy Tyson Witmer owned Mink before he was resold back to Germany. You might contact Randy..Dave and she have a website for their business. http://witmertysonimports.com/

Thanks to all for the info.

Joanna, Beat me to posting Randy's name. :-) She is probably also one of the few to be able to talk about Mink from a handling standpoint - she titled the dog to a SCH3 (HOT).
