As the mother of a BRAND NEW soldier I want to send a very HEART FELT thank you for your service to our country. There is nothing more self-less than joining our country's military where your body becomes the physical property of the Government!
Congratulations on your Honorable Discharge, you not only Deserve it but you certainly EARNED it too! Hooah!
This is my son PV2 Lanig in basic training.......he graduates August 13th!

I'm lucky enough to take lessons from her when I can. If you plan to go "national" I'd sure advise you to try and work with her if you can. She's amazing. YOu have a PM

From the looks of it, he is attending Basic Training at Fort Sill?
I attended Basic at Fort Jackson, and AIT at Fort Gordon [5 months. Avionics MOSs are absurdly long.]
I reclassed to MP at Fort Leonard Wood. I feel confident saying that Basic Training Installations are some of the worst bases the Army has. Once he ships out to his first Permanant Duty Station, he'll find that the Army is much, much more pleasant than it currently seems.

Yes, he is at Ft. Sill....just 40 minutes from where he spent nearly all his summers with my Mom-in-Law working the ranch and helping with wheat harvest.
He is actually thriving in Basic after he got over the "herp"! LOL! He will go to Ft. Sam for AIT. He is 68W and his goal is to place in the top of his class so he can go to Flight Medic school......Helicopter pilot after that.
He had 2 recommendations to West Point, one from Gen. Tommy Franks which he turned down! His reason...."I want to serve my country and help people.....I have to follow my heart!" That was the hardest thing to ever hear him say but it was also one of the proudest moments I have experienced as a mother. Gen. Franks is neighbors with my Mom-in-Law. Here is what is left of the Texas Longhorn we bought from Gen. Franks.
It was VERY yummy and is in my freezer now! LOL!

Ya know, (not just Diane, but others) not everyone "hides" behind an identity; many of us who have been around a while in this tiny little dog world DO know who each other are, even if we don't use our full names in our posts. I know my whole name isn't in my screen name, but I bet LOTS of people on here could tell you exactly who I am.
It's not always as sneaky and sordid as it seems. Just a thought.

Her expression gives her away. I can pick her out of puppy pics of her entire litter at 3 and 4 weeks old. She's always had that same "What kind of hijinks can we get up to?" expression.

I see. I'm sure there are some people on here so well known that "everybody" knows who they are. How nice for them.
What I'm seeing is a lot of personal attacks on people who DO post their name, or websites, or accomplishments, etc, by people who are too, well, chickenshit is the word that comes to mind, to stand behind their name or accomplishments. BUT, it is pretty much a no-brainer why this is... they haven't a name or accomplishment to be proud of. I certainly see that over and over again in the pit bull world. In this case, this person had a legit reason - which I respect, but its the first time I've encountered someone with a legit reason! Viva la brave!
