There has to be some reason?
Why?
Why does there have to be a reason?

Reason is a human trait, only we ask why.
It's how we learn.

We create a purpose for ourselves because there is no reason why.

We are a part of the whole, we are in the food chain, all things are connected,
we are at the top because we have killing technology, but we are still vulnerable and can be killed by other creatures including ourselves.

Men have searched for this meaning of life since he first thought to ask himself why,  still no answer, so he improvises to ease his troubled mind.   Enter religion.
Finally, answers, now he is at peace with himself.

Not all men ask why.
Living is good enough and time is better spent being a part of the whole, instead of trying to prove we are above every other creature.   All things share the spirit equally.

Shtal,
I know there is a translation problem here, but I take it you had a near death experience and you believe now the meaning of life is these seven steps and heaven now that god has spoken to you.
So, your own meaning of life is to make it to heaven living your life according to a book.
Do you not realize you already know good from evil, and that you have free will to decide what path you take.
You will live your life by the choices you make, it effects all things as part of the whole.

Each man has free will and will choose his own answers, because thats the only way he can.
It was not god who spoke to you as far as I'm concerned, you believe whatever gives your own life meaning.

Imagine how powerful a human would be if he could convince the rest of the world he really could speak to his god.
I think it has been attempted a time or two with tragic results.

Take responsibility for your own actions and not lay everything you do on a God.
Evil also exists, would you blame it on Satan, or mans weaknesses?

I thought you'd have a better answer as to your own personal meaning of life, perhaps it got lost in translation somewhere.

PROVERBS 1:7
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline."

When we chose God's way , he grants us wisdom. His Word, the Bible, leads us to live rightly, have right relationships.
and make right decisions.

A successful relationship with God counts for eternity. Everything else is perishable. All our resources, tiem and our talents come from GOD.  We should strive to use them wisely.

Solomon , one of the wisest men ever to live , left us three volumes to convery common sense and moral truth..

Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and  Song of songs.

Can a savage who knows nothing of your god go to your gods heaven?

Or will his ignorance of your god doom him to hell?

Doesn't that all hinge on his own beliefs?

The arrogance that one religion is better than another, that there is only one and yours is the true God, has always made for great wars.

His word ?
If a God was to speak to man, don't you think we would all hear his words?

While trying so hard to hear, you block out what is really speaking to your heart.

Life goes on no matter what you do with your own.

Your time is short and always a struggle, if your beliefs comfort you thats a good thing, but don't let them replace living.

We were never perfect, was not meant to be.

Oh well,
enough.

[Large corporate boardroom filled with suited executives]
Exec #1: Item six on the agenda: "The Meaning of Life" Now uh, Harry, you've had some thoughts on this.
Exec #2: Yeah, I've had a team working on this over the past few weeks, and what we've come up with can be reduced to two fundamental concepts. One: People aren't wearing enough hats. Two: Matter is energy. In the universe there are many energy fields which we cannot normally perceive. Some energies have a spiritual source which act upon a person's soul. However, this "soul" does not exist ab initio as orthodox Christianity teaches; it has to be brought into existence by a process of guided self-observation. However, this is rarely achieved owing to man's unique ability to be distracted from spiritual matters by everyday trivia.
Exec #3: What was that about hats again?
Exec #2: Oh, Uh... people aren't wearing enough.
Exec #1: Is this true?
Exec #4: Certainly. Hat sales have increased but not pari passu, as our research...
Exec #3: [Interrupting] "Not wearing enough"? enough for what purpose?
Exec #5: Can I just ask, with reference to your second point, when you say souls don't develop because people become distracted...
[looking out window]
Exec #5: Has anyone noticed that building there before?

Some say that when we accept the absurdity of trying to define the meaning of life then we can be free. We can make our own choices and make our own meaning and find our purpose, and think for ourselves. For me, this freedom allows me to be free of searching for meaning in religion, and focus on human, and animal, spirit, but I so not think this is necessarily better in any way, just my choice.  Has anyone read/heard of the myth of Sisphus? (not sure how to spell)

My favorite Sinead O'Connor Quote...........God saves everybody.........even if they don not want to be saved.
Makes you  think that may be he paid for the full passage for everyone.

He did Max, but as you see, not everyone accepts the gift.  It is a choice.

I think before one can truly understand the meaning of life they have to  have a firm ground in the meaning of existance and not just human or earthly existance.

And as advanced as we think we are as a global society we are still essentially trying to figure out  subatomic principles with a cavemans technology and perspective.

That said I do believe some individuals are much closer to understanding the meaning of life than most.

And for everyone in general I think its wise  to find true value in the world and life around them and do what is in their power to understand, nurture, and if possible improve upon it in their time spent on earth.

Red Sable,

You will be hard pressed to find an Irishman turn down the offer of salvation.
Sinead was a problem child, spent time in the Asylum of Magdalen for girls, kicked out
of school. But when her moms died... she sobered up. In the song Nothing Compares 2U ,
she puts a verse.. Momma nothing compares to you.  Her mother was killed in a car wreck,
and was the only stable thing in her life. In Sineads own words she says she believe in God and Jesus.

She just has a problem with the Holy Roman Church.
