Sue, if you know of any handler resources in my area, would it be OK if I emailed you directly?

My take on Show Handlers is the following: Many of the big kennels bring in their "team" of handlers. Many of their puppy buyers are told to use their "team" exclusively. Thus making it difficult for the local handlers to work with the "big" name kennel dogs. It is a free country and their choice to bring in the "team". I would welcome the chance to work with a big breeder and be one of their handlers but the mentality exists that the "imported team" know the judges and have the experience showing under them in Europe. Thus eliminating the chance for local handlers to be seen at the top of the classes. Having handled in two Sieger Shows I can speak from experience. When you get to handle very nice dogs and place at the top a lot of people notice. When you are in the back of the pack nobody notices you. Change?? Only when the big breeders give the local homegrown handlers the chance to prove themselves.

I guess I don't understand why posts from over a year ago keep coming up but I would have to agree that the opinions of Ghost are pretty relevent to issues we all question today. Other than the database crash of recent time I don't know why all these OLD posts are coming up but I would like to find a way to contact Ghost and further discuss some of his topics. I will provide an email soon for direct and private contact.

Hi, Spaetzle. Ghost stepped away from the forum and is not readily accessible anymore. Sorely missed, too. If someone digs for a topic as Verbatim did, and posts after it, then the original source is there. You're right in saying that the original questions/commments remain relevant. It's also very interesting to see how some members have/have not changed their opinions over time, e.g., I'll bet you a buck that Kougar shows her sable Danger at the at least one 2005 Sieger Show!
