Hi Melody, Yes, I have been asked to provide this function. I will implement this but I am still wondering how to best go about it. The world of pedigree breeders is filled with competition (often of the negative kind) and I need to be sure that it will not be missused (for instance, register with a real email and then change to a non-existing one to gain further anonymity) I will probably do so that when someone request an email change it will be treated as a new sign-up (i.e. a confirmation letter will be sent and account will be on hold until confirmation) Regards oli

Hi Oli would also be great if every member has to have their eMail visible and also their IP address. That way abusers can easily be tracked.

Yes...or at least some way for moderators to know who is posting.

Isn't the moderation being a bit over done here? Posts are being deleted that contain ANY links... not just the ones with urls in the signature, promotional, or affiliated posts. Looking at the TOS #8 as has been pointed out many times today.. the last sentence would seem to make it OK to give a link regarding the posters question. You can no longer answer opinions on dogs...In TOS #15 this is suppose to be an interactive forum. Why can't the vindictive or flammatory posts be removed and the poster warned or banned from any further postings as to TOS #'s 9,15, and 20? Jeff

Jeff, We're doing our best here to help keep this site running smoothly, without constant aggravation to Oli. He has plenty to do without people constantly griping to him about things. Be happy for the FREE use of this website/messageboard and follow the rules! As far as removing vindictive or inflammatory posts, we are doing our best! However, we too have lives other than being on this website 24/7/365, and sometimes things are bound to slip past unnoticed for a short period of time. Feel free to EMAIL someone privately to tell them something if it's really going to make someone else email us to have the post removed because it's against the Terms of Service. Remember, we're all here to learn together. :)

Jeff, Unfortunately when someone asks about a dog, it's normally being done with if anyone has had dealings with this person, or this person stole from us, etc. People have been using this site for their own personal agenda's against other people. TOS 15 also refers to treating people as to how you wish to be treated, and sadly too many times this hasn't happened. Well I would hope people wouldn't want to be treated the way some have been on this site. As vomfelsenhof mentioned, we aren't on all the time, but I know I'm on at least 5-6 times a day min to review things and edit if needed and you can always email. I believe the goal is to get back to decent productive discussions and away from the bashing of breed clubs, breeders, etc. There are other sites to do that on. Now hopefully we can get back to what this board was intended to be.

neuen-polizei, I do not think that the moderation thing is being overdone now on this site. Just a few days there was a major court decision in Germany that determined that the web site owner is personally responsible for any and all content of any post on his or her site. This type of ruling is likely to to appear in most other western countries eventually. So, I think that it is a good idea for Oli to run this site as he is now doing. And I think the moderators are doing a great job. It is so refreshing for this site to no longer have all the previous vicious personal attacks that were once its trademark. Hat's off and thanks to the moderators and Oli for doing a great job!

I was only giving suggestions. I'm not too sure the need to point out that this is a "FREE" site, I am fully aware of that fact. Being a forum, I shouldn't have to e-mail someone that has posted in the forum. It defeats the purpose of having the forum to begin with. Also, constructive criticsm is different from bashing/flaming a dog or its owner. When showing or trialing a dog, the judge gives the strong and weak points of that dog/handler team. Why can it not be that way here if it stays constructive and ban the ones that do nothing but bash others? I am in no way trying to say that you 3 aren't trying to do your best and mean well! If that upset you, that wasn't my inent and I apologize. Jeff

I didn't take it that way :) I don't mind heated discussions but they have to stay civil. The email is for posts that get out of hand and the mud starts slinging, lol.
