I'd say don't trust the SV either, so totally. They're not pristine gods, I'm sure. http://home.sprintmail.com/~impactgsd/astamp1.html

unfotunately that link gets passed on as if it is the holy grail... Some studies have shown that mating perfect hips with perfect hips does not guarantee perfect hips. Some studies have shown that breeding perfect to perfect increases the chance of perfect. Some studies have also shown that breeding with less than perfect hips produces less than perfect hips. Some breeding results have shown that a3 hips can produce far better results than dogs with perfect hips. So all scenarios are covered... we are back to square one. If something is studied and then put into statistics, the result always depends on the paramiters of that study. Maybe certain aspects were not looked at, so they outcome may not be totally relevant. If you go into the actual SV results, there is no real difference in the outcome of what females with a1, a2 and a3 have produced on the larger scale. If the gene was found... chances are that all GSD would more or less have it. Since every litter has the potential to produce a dysplastic puppy. I do not know of a single line that has been HD free for several generations now so that you could say the line will not produce HD like saying that line will not produce any coats. Never mind that that too is not a 100% prediction. And when we breed more precisely to avoid the HD factor we may inadvertently bring other problems to the surface by limiting certain combinations and compounding other recessives in the process. Breeding the "whole dog" IMO is still the best option.

What about penn hip? That is to be said the hottest thing on hips. A computer measures not three people (that might be having a bad day) looking at them. Any thoughts?
