GSDNewbie

by GSDNewbie on 02 January 2011 - 04:01

A lady I have met recently after moving here has lost one of her dogs to cancer. She is interested in finding a gsd for her home. She does not care about age nor papers just general good health and temperament. She does not have any color preference. She has an older lab and horses for it to get along with. Anyone know of a pet gsd somewhat near TN USA to be considered please contact me. She has a farm and takes care of her animals.

                                                                                            Thank You

Maybe, what part of Tennessee does she live in? What age preference, gender, and how much is she willing to spend? I meet people all the time trying to sell/give away GSDs. :)

Edit: Oops, you said no age preference. Sorry, I missed that.

She is in Knoxville. She is flexible with age, and gender she has one male lab as long as they can be compatable. I do not know her price limit. I will call her tomorrow for that. She has said a retired dog is fine as well as young. She now lives alone but her grandchild is young and visits. Temperament is her highest concern.

Hmm, I'm an hour outside of Chattanooga, so it would be a drive, but not a horrible one.

I have a female puppy at my house for sell for 300, with AKC papers. Probably going to be a dark blanket back. Only 2 weeks old right now, so it would still be a while. Not a good pedigree, imo, but should be healthy and happy. I own a full sibling from a different litter. The mom is not mine, I'm raising them for someone else, btw. I'm also thinking that they might sell the mother, too, but I'd definitely have to ask again (I'll ask her tomorrow). I have no clue how much she would ask for her. She an all black small GSD, and is definitely the better half of the puppy's pedigree. I have no clue how she would do with horses, but she despises cats. Very friendly with my two dogs, though, even my grumpy old mutt. Good with young children, since she normally lives with two, one very young and one around 9. She is very hyper, though.

Also, Craigslist and Petfinder normally have GSDs, from what I've seen.

I'll keep my ears open, though. Normally, when people are looking for a home for their dogs, I'm the first to hear, lol. I'm surprised that's all I can think of right now, actually!

:)

I will tell her and yes I have been spending the evening checking pet finder and such. Thank you for your help.

No problem. Don't forget to look at nearby cities, too. I saw a free GSD in the Chattanooga craigslist, yesterday, I think. I forgot to add Kijiji, too (though that is a little more byb-iss, you can still find good dogs). Good luck, I hope she finds a good one. :D

So.. this lady cannot find a GSD on her own?
This whole thread seems odd to me.

Moons, your cynicism is growing and showing :-)  I can see a scenario where a conversation takes place and because one person has GSDs, assistance is requested... period.

I have people all the time ask me where to find a good dog. Many don't feel qualified to pick through the ads, especially when temperament is a priority. They ask if I know of any I'd vouch for or if I'd evaluate one found in a classified. Nothing fishy about it, IMO.

Actually she is not on the internet much and does not know anyone in dogs beyond just having a couple pet dogs on the farm. She really likes my gsds, does not want to support bad breeders but willing to take in a gsd in need and pay to do so.... I do not see the problem? She is just a person not knowing anyone in gsds and wants one and asked my help to find a nice one. I looked on petfinder there are only two there for nearest our area and they will not adopt them out that far from their rescue. There are plenty of byb breeders here she does not want to support them.

A woman wants one of those couple thousand gsds in need of a good pet home what's your problem with that? Perhaps some more of the people trying to make issue with me spilling over to here is my guess. Grow up people. You say you hate this forum so why come here to mess with me? I am to busy for this training my new puppy and physical therapy has fixed my bad leg and all the other awesome things in my life offline and find it laughable the lengths some people are going to in smearing me and living online to try make it appear things aret what they are not. If this is more of the things I have been informed has been going on online I find the utmost humor in the attempts people have been trying to do and accuse it on to me. I am offline most of the time these days so have fun with all of that while I am out enjoying life and yes helping yet more people something I have always done.
