Someone on the above thread said it best:

"This is probably the most active GSD board in town period end of story. You know why? Because people are free to express their thoughts and opinions without worrying about being censored. If you don't like what someone has to say, don't read it. If you have victorian sensabilities and feel you may feint from the horror of someones words then ignore that person. I'm sick to death of people who want to make everyone else conform to what they want and have the gall to act holier than thou about it."

But now they say this:

"I also got a trashy PM from Moons, too. Sorry you think someone with such a filthy and disgusting mouth is a loss to this board, Prager, I disagree. If he wants to stay, and can control himself, great. If he wants to continue to act like a baby, then I hope this time he keeps his word. The mods are here to stay, thankfully. I have seen no loss of quality to this board, on the contrary it's finally getting back to where it was a few years back before all the trolls worked so hard to destroy it. I see new people and old people starting to post more. Many good threads about dogs. You want to blame someone for your supposed loss of "freedom" to say anything that crosses your mind, regardless of how rude, tacky or off topic, blame the idiotic trolls, flooders, flamers and constant OT threads. THEY are the ones that forced Oli to appoint moderators."

Ah........the memories

RPK,  PDB changed since 2007, not all for the better for a time.   If the downhill slide had never happened, moderators would not have been needed.  The downhill slide did happen though...... I believe that changed many peoples minds regarding moderation.  Things are coming back to dog related topics slowly but surely.   For that I am glad, even if it took moderators to do so.

This thread is off-topic. Where are the moderators?

This thread is a good example of inconsistent moderation.  Ironic that it's original purpose was to welcome more moderators.  You have one member's posts in the thread being moderated because they were being rude, then you have a bunch of members, including a moderatoring, making repeated personal remarks about the original person, but none of that is moderated.   Even though it's OT and against the TOS.

The damned if we do and damned if we don't approach.

I have no problem publicly admonishing any member for behavior stated below. This site is safe and to be a valued member and post the below comment is wrong and IMO borders on libel. A statement like this is at best malicious to a site and at worst down right damaging and is not true.

Moons wrote:
"Oli,
your websites all fucked up again.

Not only do the pages not load but just now something or someone tried to access my computer.
The sites not safe in my opinion.
And you moderators suck."

See the problem is people make all these comments, but they do not know the whole story.

No one tried to access his computer through this site. It is ludicrous and shows a lack of computer knowledge and understanding. We will not take cryptic warnings about the site, posted here by anyone lightly and any further unsubstantiated posts/posters suggesting such will be banned on the spot. If you have a problem with the site take it to a moderator.

Addressing the claims of inconsistent moderating. We started the OP and we decided to allow the off topic talk as a way to address these concerns/complaints. While we have tried to keep things on topic in the forums, it is a concept that is hard for many to grasp and is going to take time to adjust to.

Thread closed any further comments will be deleted. If anyone wants to discuss this further feel free to pm me.

Regards,
GSD

But I must separate myself from you if you think that someone who has continually made statements that make newbies and novices feel small and that those who do not know English as first language are stupid is correct.
Where have I said that this is correct? I have on several occasions chastised such statements here and exposed them for what they are. However I believe that it is better to do it that way ( publicly) then to delete such posts or threads. It shows what these people are if they make such statements and it diminishes their credibility.
Someone also said:
Sorry you think someone with such a filthy and disgusting mouth is a loss to this board, Prager, I disagree.
This is a classical sophistry to think that  just because someone slipped,  means that he is all wrong and bad. I have not agreed on many Moons posts but many were funny and witty. And that was really refreshing.
I personally believe that profanities should not be used on international forum but if it is it diminishes the credibility of person making these. I think it is OK and i have said that here before on this forum  to delete these profanities and exchange them for word "profane" or something similar. But I have work on some of my posts here just to see all threads being deleted because moderator did not like someone's post or the way the thread went. That is discouraging and yes insulting.
Other examples:  If someone strays from the topic too far in the passion of discussion, do not delete it! Just remind such person what the topic is all about and recommend to start different thread. Personally I do not understand why straying form the topic is an issue. But it is not my forum thus the owner can do what he wants.
