I am not THAT old but, I just don't get it.
When I here kids say.... "that was really sick"...or... "it's sick".
I interpret that to mean.... "that was really gross and disgusting".... or... "it's ill", as in not feeling well.
I do not understand what is so appealing about;
wearing pants big enough a horse could wear them.
I think he must have some short commings to hide or she's trying to advertise what's available. showing off your underwear or lack there of in public.
Is just.....well.....eewww. wearing pants so tight around the waist that fat sags over the top, like bread rising over the top of a bowl.
Must not have had her size, because she surely can not believe that is appealing in any way. wearing a ball cap backwards and to the side of the head.
I invision Goofy the Disney dog character. wearing your PJ's and slippers out in public.

My peeve about cothing is that MIAC Report listed Levi Jeans as terrorist paraphernalia. That's all I own Jean wise all my life. Gezzz
Actually I took the Homeland Security test they passed around and I scored 25 of a possible 30 for domestic terrorism. LMAO I guess now I know how the founding fathers felt.

Ha! We would need a voice activated typewriter/keyboard for this one. For everyone one thing you mentioned there could be ten whys. And nine of the them in my eyes would be stupid. I'm prior military and prior law enforcement so "standards" of clothes, appearance and language are pretty much set in place.
The most basic reasons in my eyes for most of these, I'll be nice; attributes" is a sense of "individualism", "rebellion", "soul searching", "defiance", "click" or even gangs. But like I said there could be ten whys for each one.
In my eyes society is at fault. Then it rolls down hill; all the way down to the individual themselves trying to fit in.

Alboe, I don't understand. Please post a pic of your hair. I'm sure it conforms to what most of society has. Just like hair, clothing and language changes throughout time. Kids will be kids. I'm sure the kids from the 8o's that wore Parachute pants, mesh tank tops and had Soul Glo turned out fine and are wearing a pair of nice khakis today. Kids want what's in. You are somewhat the same. Like I said, I'm sure your hairstyle fits the norm of today. I know mine does. I get compliments about my mullet all the time. Yeah, people can be jealous once in a while. Some tell me to cut it so that I don't have an advantage with the ladies, but I'm smart. I see through the envy and admiration.

I'm 28. But I shake my head lots these days. Cool and Hot mean the same thing. Sick, is a good thing. I have been told that my truck is "sick", while the speaker practically drools on himself. When my truck is sick, to me, that means I need to spend some money on repairs. When I went to school, sick was a bad thing, meant something was wrong. Some of the music out there, I'd shout "sick" about, but that's because I mean it.
The use of the word "like", and I don't mean used "I like GSDs". Like, don't you know that I, like, need to go to the mall and, like, hang with my, like, friends...Mispronounced words by folks who were born here in the US, who speak no other languages..."Excavator" pronounced as "escavator".
And yes, guys who wear pants so big you wonder idly how they don't hit the ground. What holds them up? Do I even want to know? Probably not. And the girls wearing pants like described above. I couldn't imagine trying to put on size 2 when I'm a six or an eight. I don't understand how they managed to get them zipped and buttoned, when they couldn't even get the jeans over their hips. I wonder if it hurts?
And on the subject of young women's pants...How about the style now where you buy pants that are pre-ripped out at knees and thighs, and sometimes the seat? I have lost count of how many times I've heard bragging over how much was paid for this or that pair of torn up pants! Seriously? I pay less for jeans that are in new conditon, and you know what? I am very capable of wearing them out myself, and even tearing out knees! Once they get too ripped, they are trash.
Hats on backwards and turned, or forward-facing, but tilted and sideways. Just doesn't make you look smart, kids!
Thank God that the majority of these young people grow out of these phases. For those that don't...Maybe they will learn someday why it is difficult to take them seriously.
Wonder if you can get into a bite suit with oversize pants on...Or pants so tight you can't move?

Unfortunately for every "one" that grows out of this phase "two" don't. And when society, parents, schools let things be with no questions asked, no intervention or even no caring then the "red flags" start popping up. And then only "after the fact" everyone acknowledges what they saw but didn't realize in the past with certain individuals.
Yes some do grow out of it, but in my eyes it's a shame what kids (and sometimes adults) do to fit in or feel accepted. The majority falls upon the home, family and likes.
Oh yeah, most of the time the hair is just a military flat top! But hey I'd love to see yours and see what all the fuss is about

AlBoe2009: I agree with your analagy. Society has let so many outside differences creep into What is now acceptible" because "if it Feels GOOD do it" attitude which inturn has led to rebellion of everything our country was formed on. Parents now "stand behind the child that is sent to the office for "Disobeying Rules" and want the whole world to change rules for their spoiled brats. Law enforcements have to walk a chalk line or get "docked to desk work for 6 months" for enforcing stiff arms against a criminal..My pet peeve ...How do you communicate with a person who doesn't speak our main language here ?
