brynjulf,
Is the Root 1 an old vine Zin? If so you might like 7 Deadly Zins (it's an old vine Zin). We buy it at Costco for about $8.00 a bottle.

Ruger1,
That sounds like a nice refreshing wine to drink on a hot day.

Shelly,
What is a Barberra? I know it's a red, but how does it taste?

Can anybody recommend a good Chardonnay?

clc29...

Yes, I love to drink wine while I cut the lawn on a late summer afternoon...: )

Barberra is deeply red, slightly dry, fruity (berries) "old vine" wine with low tannins, high acids and a smooth finish. I prefer the riper grape version, which lends a black cherry element to the flavor. It goes with just about anything, light enough for sipping on a hot afternoon, but with enough body to stand up to a steak or tomato pasta sauce.

Ruger1,
He, He......That gave me a mental picture of you sitting on a riding lawn mower with stemmed wine glass in hand.

 Shelly,
That sounds wonderful. I will have to try that.

Its not usually terribly expensive- $7-15. Like Beaujolais, it can be refreshing lightly chilled on a hot day after the yardwork.

Graf Zoltan and Burg Layer Schlosskapelle Spatlese from PRP International.
Both are nice, easy to drink wines.

Anything out of a box or if it has a twist off lid...

I really like Barefoot pino grigio.  It is light and inexpensive and just a great stand by for in the fridge.
