GSDtravels

by GSDtravels on 13 March 2011 - 01:03

Okay, YR requested that I post this.  It's a documentary that was made in Europe and it's really scary stuff.  Monsanto is attempting to OWN the world food supply, putting farmers out of business and changing mother nature.  It's pretty scary stuff and when you read WikiLeaks about the Bush Administration putting pressure on European countries to approve Monsanto crops, it truly makes you wonder who and what is behind it.  I'll also post a link about the revolving door between Monsanto and the FDA, which is mentioned in this documentary.  It is 1 1/2 hours long, so only watch it when you have the time, because once you start, you won't be able to stop.  It's amazing how many people really don't care about this stuff, but we really need to learn everything we can about what's happening to our food supply, while there's still time to stop it!   It may already be too late and once that happens, there's probably no way to reverse it.

...and here's the link to the revolving door.

Sorry forget how to make the stupid link work.

I didn't watch that, way too long, I'll admit, BUT i've been against GMO's in our food supply especially corn and soy plants for years. We aren't given a choice, they don't need to tell us we are eating frankenfood.

think global, eat local! ;-)

I agree with buy local, but the thing is, there's been so much cross pollination, there will soon be no such thing as non-GMO.  And since Monsanto has a patent on their seeds, if and when that happens, they will literally own the WORLD food and cotton supply.  It has already been demonstrated that one of the oldest crops, Mexican corn, has been contaminated by cross-pollination and/or imported corn via NAFTA.

There has been a small victory in Canada where a canola farmer's crops were contaminated.  Monsanto sued him and won, but he appealed and the tables were turned.  Also a small victory recently with GMO rice from Bayer Corp. (they're also getting in on the game with their own pesticide resistant GMOs) invading the rice in middle America.  But, small victories considering that the crops have already been damaged, and in the Bayer case, the GMO rice hasn't even gained FDA approval (not that it matters, evidenced by the revolving door), so the only good thing is that the Corporations cannot claim patent rights.

And that's exactly why Monsanto has always scared me.

Also forgot to add this one very important fact!  The organic elite have also recently caved and are ready to sell their organic seed supplies to the giant, Monsanto.  Since there are no regulations in place to label such foods, organic will no longer be organic!

Exactly GSD, they can not prevent drift. And we are not given a choice. Grow your own and save your seeds, and still it may not be enough.

And the reason I care is because once again with new science breakthroughs, we can never predict all the negative outcomes because there is always one we never imagined.

Doesn't matter. The whole West Coast is going to be eating nuclear fallout soon enough.

Things are starting to look like those Mayans with their calendar knew what they were talking about!
