*I agree absolutely with crocop, and Uwe.  Also add Ellis (attended his seminare many times and always learned more), Ivan, Seibel.    Wallace Payne also presents a good seminar- all three phases and works his ass off in the process.  I attended his Thanksgiving Week seminar in B.C. and it was absolutely the coldest weather I have ever experienced in the PNW, but Wallace was out there non-stop for about 4 hours with tracking alone.  Even the seasoned WUSV competitors came back for all three days.

I finally got the chance last week to train with Mike Ellis. He is one of the great ones in my area I had not had a chance to train with before. Sure glad I did. If he didn't travel so much I would be training with him quite a bit.

It wasn't a seminar, but I still learned alot and got some great Ideas. Never thought to use "touch pads" before; I'm gonna try to incorperate that now.

Can't wait to train with him again. He is good.

As many of you know, Bernhard Flinks will be in the US and at several clubs in March of this year. I can tell you that Bernhard is not only a fine teacher, he is a doer, having placed well in some major competitions. At this point he has limited time to train and do seminars outside of Germany and he receives more than a hundred requests from all over the world in any given year. Sometimes his email does not work, just like some of us. If you really want to speak with him, call him in Germany. This year alone I know he will also have been in Maylasia and several other countries besides the US. But because he works for a living, again his time is limited.

Bernhard will and does talk theory. More importantly, he will work with you, one-on-one to show you how to do what it is he is teaching. Like all good students, students should be able to look at a given style of training and their own dog and take that which fits their own situation. Sometimes one can actually learn as much about what NOT to do, as what to do.

Finally, we bring him here and yes, I personally subsidize his fee for the training and his expenses which are fair.  These turn out to be high given he is paid for his work and also all expenses, including airfare. This year we will be able to split the round trip airfare, but none the less, airfare alone will likely total around $1300. Then there are costs in the US for meals and lodging. He is gracious enough to stay with us, helping in that regard, but it still costs money to host someone even at ones' home.

We limit our registrations so that each and every participant gets a lot of one-on-one time with him. This is also one reason why I end up paying a large part of the costs associated with bringing him, or for that matter, any trainer, judge or helper. But in Flinks case, in my opinion, he is absolutely worth every cent and the last time he was here people really enjoyed it and learned a lot. He is also a very nice person with a great sense of humor and his English is excellent. We are honored to host him again this March.

There are others out there who can teach and who can share. And yes, sometimes people are better teachers than others. We have been really lucky to host some excellent but less know trainers and BSP participants and I can honestly say, we learned a lot and had a great time and made some lifetime friends.

As for Bernhard, I would strongly recommend that if you have never worked with him, you find an opening somewhere and attend. It will be well worth it for most people.

We have Wallace Payne coming in June. From the Wet Coast reports I recieved his theory presentations before working dogs was great. Something for me to think about as its -30 outside. Pat Brown John is excellent for OB and drive development. She can read dogs with the best of them. One of those that make it look simple and easy.
