Oh, I know you weren't. You seemed like you were wondering why there was less SL discussion regarding lines, etc.
Yeah I kind of figured that it was because they tend to get slammed, or belittled. I noticed even with the topic of the thread fewer people comment on it. There is another thread in the gsd forum where a guy is asking for help on his dogs pedigree, she is sl and I noticed not very many people have commented on it. I was hoping more would bc it would be interesting. I did read the old thread where you guys did the "study" it was great and very informative. If that personality is common in the sl dogs I don't understand why anybody would slam them, there are plenty of sl that compete in sch, work in pp etc, so what is to not like?

Wow! Finally someone spoke some sense on this topic!!! I also get tired of seeing so much criticism on the showlines. We dont live in a perfect world. And working lines arent perfect either. I have heard stories where people cant put up with the w/l excessive drive. Okay, I dont like to argue but I just wanted to say thumbs up for Donnerstorm :) i liked ypur comment there
Donnerstorm, When the working line folks snub you we will be your friend..lol...;)
Like Fox News , Donnerstorm is Fair and Balanced Yeah!!!!!.........
LOL Thanks, in defense of the wl ppl until I got Nala I had the same thoughts on sl gsds. However I didn't compete in sch, ringsport etc. I dealt with dogs that were going to police depts, fire depts, used as protection dogs etc. So I was never around a german sl gsd, I had been around american sl gsd (which I think should be another breed). Maybe if they would give them a chance, they would see what I did with Nala. At the risk of getting slammed big time here. If the sl gsds can work which it appears they can bc they are competing for the SAME titles as the wl guys at the SAME trials, they would be a better choice for a pp dog. Most people that buy a pp dog don't have a lot of dog experience, they typically keep the dog in the house with them, they may or may not be very active. The wl guys can be a handful esp for an inexperienced owner definately for an inactive owner, I would think it would be a much better choice to put a sl gsd that has the ability to do the work in that environment. Seems to me a lot of the wl gsds are becoming more and more imbalanced. I'm sure the sl gsds have their faults too, I just don't have enough experience to know what they are. I have to say I am as silly as it sounds looking forward to something new and competing in agility, conformation etc.
Each December issue of SV ZEITUNG (SV Magazine) contains the official judges' evaluation for each BSZS entry for the current year. This issue also contains the BSP evaluations. A genetic map showing the lineage for all VA and V rated entries is included. This would be very helpful in researching both show and sport lines. Joining the SV is not a bad idea for shepherd people.
Thanks for the tip dogbun, how do you join the sv, I would suppose you could find the magazine on their website?
here is an old thread. I hope It will help you get things better.
