Xeph, I don't see anything wrong with your dog's pasterns. What don't you like?

I would probably use a dog's photos without seeking permission from the owner if it were for a positive comment. I think its polite to ask before using another's dog as a reference for a fault.

not going to go much farther into detail than this; But I never required Blitzens company when it came to a disagreement between me and you personally. We have our differences, and we have our similarities. I am not currently seeking you out for any problems.

Thank you for the lovely comments on my dogs I do appreciate it :)

If you helped in the improvements seen on this board then good for you and thank you for suggesting it. I look forward to the many interesting posts that will follow in discussions about Showlines and structure.

now lets get back to the OT

Well lets see here

On my own male I think he is a good example of nice tight feet that are straight, a great ear set, nice dark eyes

Blitzen, they are overangulated and overall soft.  While you can see they're overdone in a picture, I can alter how I stack her to make her appear more upright on them, but if you see her in person, you can see how they're too spongy.

I'd be happy to PM you some other photos :)

If you want to see some nice pasterns, Paska Salztalbick had beautiful pasterns.  My little girl's mother had beautiful, firm pasterns, though they were a bit long.

The bitch in the photo is for sale if anyone is interested.
Uh, NO, she is NOT

you decided to remove her from sale? WONDERFUL great news and that is fantastic!! I am sure she will be a happy dog staying in the home she has known her whole life. I am also sure since you have said she is more your husband's companion that will be great for them both.

She is indeed.  She's actually shown GREAT apititude for agility and obedience (obedience in particular).  We're hoping we can get her CD in the next year.  We're already working on CDX exercises...just need a lot of polish on the heeling and fronts.

I hate formal obedience....but Mogwai makes it fun.  I am still hoping to find a junior handler for her.

I want to return to herding wiht her as well, but finances have unfortunately prohibited that for the time being.

That truly is good and I wish you all the best in those endavors with her. I have a soft spot for dogs that where purchased for show and did not work out after maturity due to dysplaysia like your girl or other medical issues.  I had two females that this happened with and it sure cuts down on the progress of reaching ones show goals to finish keeping them for life and not over crowding the home at the time time with others. Unfortunatly, one had to be euthed instead of staying with me for a long life anyhow like my other. I also have a soft spot for older retired show dogs that have given all of themselves for their owners. The evil of competeing with dogs is the life of the dog versus how long they are of use to owners striving forward with new dogs.

So that this post is on topic, does it worry you the laxation in her pasterns and her hip issues doing something so physical over time? I know you take your dogs to the vet so I am sure they said it was alright but how do you as an owner monitor it and how do you think this will affect her structure and is it firming up her pasterns to use them in this way?

I appreciate your honesty Xeph on your dogs pasterns and I agree.  I too have a dog with weaker pasterns than I'd like, I also have one with good pasterns IMO.  I'm going to try and get a good shot of them, and let Ibrahim ( the angle wizard ) tell me the approx. angle.  I'm really curious to see what he and you guys think.

I'll try and get as good of shots as GSDnewbie did, but that is going to be tough to beat.

lol ty redsable the issue was not the dogs it was my terrible camera.... my good camera died an early death and was appearantly a lemon to the good brand it normally is so i was stuck using a quick snap point and shoot that hates different light conditions anything you take is sure to beat it easily.
