here's the best i can offer as to what the sv judges are looking for.........

a pair of twins are marathon ready, the first has been only running, the second has been working out too.......
they are both strong and lean and can easily complete the race.......and they both look great..........but the second twin has the most amazing 6 pack abs, well defined shoulders, excellent lat's...etc, etc.....

now if a magic wand was waved over these brothers and the were instantly changed into GSDs and were in a SV ring, the first twin would not place near as close to the top as the second...

its not just about being skinny, its about being in the best possible physical shape possible....

Well there were two brothers in Dallas, same quality structure, same awesome handlers, same class. One was in relax mode months before the show one was not. One got third one got 8th. Both are awesome correct dogs. Proper conditioning and ring training makes a big difference in the dog in the ring.

In my opinion many more of those gorgeous working line dogs I see would do much better in the show if the owners took it a little more seriously and trained for it. I think they could just give the dogs a run for the money as many of them are nice structure. I wish they would give their dogs a chance and also maybe it would kick up what is expected in the bite work to remain a competing showline hmmm?

there are many working line dogs with nice conformaiton, but they are not trained for the ring. They are not trained to gait, they are not comfortable with handlers, they don't show confidence in the ring.

its too bad, i'd like to see come very well prepared working line dogs....
