Debby,
Please post a link to the video of the NASS show with the better dogs in the protection phase.  I'd love to see it.

Jim, I do not have access to video. Names will have to suffice and maybe you can search them for video... WUSV World Universal Sieger Zambo Riedschlurgi - http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=568619
Griff Temar - http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=583599
That's a couple... don't have my notes infront of me and need some sleep....
Hope that helps.

BTW... I neglected to say: I saw these dogs in person at NASS and made my assessment there.

Have any of these dogs been DNA tested for DM?

Here is a video i found of Zambo, (I hope it works). I love these threads such as this one. They are definately educational if you have a true desire to know about specific dogs and bloodlines!

Thanks KitKat! Here is a female VA 5 NASS 2011 Honey Finkenschlag (pregnant) Not perfect but not bad. She was pregnant by Zambo.

Here is V 8 Working male class Rocco Mittelwest. Again, not perfect but not bad for sure.

I like Grif and Rocco.  They didn't gather terribly on the long bite as many did.  Grif was well trained and certainly better than most of the videos I have seen of the NASS bitework.  Zambo was ok too.  Honey did the routine, certainly nothing extraordinary.

I recall the video of the BSZS and remember the # 11 or 12 dog being very impressive, I can't think of his name now.  The vast majority of the dogs at the BSZS were probably worse than the dogs on the videos here.

Should we expect the same level of protection from a showline that is expected from a workingline? Is that difference the result of training, basic temperament, or physical limitations? Could a good working line trainer do a better job with a showline than a trainer who only trains showlines? Are their methods much different?

These darn showlines have to be good for something, don't they?

What could Honey and Zambo have done better, Slamdunc?
