I think Vegas is a stunning dog but I think he should of been V1 not VA status as really he should prove himself like his father with a progeny. And that goes for all VA dogs as thats supposed to be the best you can get. I am sure he will produce and should of been VA next year. LC

Glad you mentioned that Lara C. I was thinking the same thing myself. As much as I think he is a good dog, I actually lost a bet with someone over him because I foolishly said "he won't go VA, he is too young to have a progeny group". Just shows how wrong you can be! Can anyone clarify the rules on this so I don't lose any bets next year?

Hi Lara and Deb, Re- VA rules under German System, although I agree it appears to make more sense to give VA only to those dogs with progeny, the VA it is also awarded to those they consider Superb+ dogs carrying bloodlines they WANT to promote (or in some cases dogs not so Superb but with alternative bloodlines they NEED to promote). Although the quality of Vegas ensured he would get used anyway, his VA status will ensure he gets his share of the best bitches from the best producing kennels. This gives him the best chance to PROVE himself over the next 12mths (rather than try to prove himself from lesser quality bitches). Suggesting his progeny next year should give all of us the best indication of what he TRULY has to offer. However, please don't take what I have just said as gospel as I have no proof, it's just my 'Take' on what is perhaps their reasons for awarding VA status prior to producing Ex Progeny. (In other words the judge is predicting Vegas is worth using, only time and progeny will tell !). While I'm here - CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL UK EXHIBITORS ON THEIR SIEGER 2006 ACHIEVEMENTS. Best Regards Sue

Thanks Sue. I thought it must be something like that but wasn't sure where the SV drew the line. Vegas is no doubt a good dog and hopefully will delight us all!
