here is how its works, breeders imports a less than top of the line female have her breed to a well know male ,the then import this second class female, sell the litter for 2000-3500 a pup, because of the male ,and then turn around and breed her again sale this litter, take what they have made from sale of litters, buy a better female ,sale crappy female, because any good breeder is not going to sale a female without he has a kennel full of better femeales, because a good female is worth 3 males, and this is how they do it,lots of good breeders, and a lot of used car salesmen,i laught when i see them doing it......and its all time check out adds...brenda

It is very simple. If you don't like the price of the dog don't buy it. But don't try and impose what you think a puppy should go for on everyone else. This is a free country. People can charge whatever they think their puppies are worth and if someone else agrees that it is worth that much then they buy it. Too many people worry about what someone else is chargeing for their dogs. If your not interested in purchaseing it then don't worry about what they charge. As long as they are selling healthy dogs thats all that really counts, so what if they make some money off of them.

I think when someone mentions they paid only $5000. for their SchH 1, V, Kkl. 1 female, they forgot to mention a few other little "extras," like all the trips they took while establishing the relationship with the seller that allowed them to buy the dog at that price, the number of other dogs they have purchased themselves from that seller, how many buyers they referrred to that seller in past, phone calls back & forth, suitcases full of athletic shoes (very $$ in Europe!) and other gifts for the familes of their friends hauled overseas, dinners purchased, cars rented, accomodations while visiting, other puppies purchased (with the typical German guarentee: "guarenteed to get to your car on their own four legs!")that DIDN'T work out, about another $100. each to register the dogs with the AKC (Bescheinigung, AKC foreign reg & DNA) airfare, excess baggage/shipping/crate purchases from Europe...

Anybody here buy their female UNtitled? Put more titles/ratings on her after you bought her? HOW far do you drive to training HOW many times a week? Did you promote her wonderfulness by entering her (and, as long as you were going anyway, a couple more of your dogs) in a Sieger Show, HOW far from home? Did your top handler pay their own way to the show, eat/drink nothing and sleep in a pup tent? HOW many days off did you take from work? How much did all THAT cost you? What do you mean the airline handling your flight from Frankfurt to ?? told you there wasn't room on board for all your dogs, and, once you finally got to Cincinnati after sleeping (with crates of dogs/puppies that needed to be walked a few times overnight, but DID manage to digest the loaves of bread you bought them for dinner in the Bahnhof downstairs without getting the runs...) in Frankfurt Lufthafen was CANCELLED. You probably didn't even think about handing the parking attendent at the airport a fistful of $ to spring your car. You were too busy thinking about where you could stop right away to walk the dogs, more importantly the puppies who have only had one vaccination, after so much time in their crates and all that water those thoughtful airline people poured into (an missed) their water dishes! Surely you didn't tip anybody on the trip, DID you? Who took care of your dogs while you were gone? That was free, too, WASN'T IT? Did you call home to check on things and inform your family & friends/customers that you would be late, BUT you got a GREAT DEAL on your new bitch! So the neighbors were worried about your male not eating for a couple days and having diarrhea so they took him to the emergency clinic at 6 pm Sunday night to have him checked out. At least there was nothing wrong with him outside the fact your best friend's kid had been feeding him 1/2 box of dog biscuits every evening because he seemed depressed... $470. later everybody feels a LOT better! Better safe than sorry; isn't that what you always say? Hey at least you got home safely with your new pride & joy and are all set to make your fortune breeding dogs. Now the REAL fun begins! Ha ha ha ha ha!

Shelley, I agree on the athletic shoes. I think that in Germany at least they have replaced my favourite gift (bribe)-the half-pints of Jack Daniels whiskey that I always took with me. Oh well, at least the whiskey is "one size fits all". Bob-O

You guys aren't kidding, are you?

No, Blitzen, I seldom joke about such matters. Whiskey is a serious commodity. Bob-O

Another plus with shoes vs. JD: Shoes don't break in your suitcase. :-O
