Beautiful dogs and lovely photos of them in motion.

Sheesh, thank you for your comments. How old is Cisco? he still looks young and a very nice type of dog.

Thanks Dogshome9. Cisko is now 26 months old. The top photos he was 23 months and the bottom photos he was 16 months. I really enjoy watching nice fluid movement in the GSD. :-)

Bea, can  you show your dog when he's in full stride so we can see the nice reach and drive it looks like he would have.  I love his type.

Cisco is a really nice dog, Theresa. I'm anxious to hear how his AKC debut goes.

Comparing Xeph's photos to the German dogs really shows the classic difference between those lines. ASL's generally cover a lot more ground in one stride than the German dogs. That doesn't mean one is better than the other so don't shoot me. I've had both, my current dog is 75% ASL's with a very big side gait. When I trialed her for her AD she left the GSL's in the dust because she has a longer body, a flat topline, more angulation on both ends so can cover a lot more ground with less effort.  She barely broke a sweat. The dogs that fared the worst were the rotties, they couldn't keep up with any of the GSD's or Malis, too heavy bodied, short backs, and too straight on both ends. Do GSD's need all of that side gait? Probably not but I sure do love watching it LOL.

I think Xeph has some of the best photos.  Some of these other dogs are not really showing me a dog in full gait, but dogs pulling into leads and lifting from the elbow. Some look like they are walking instead of gaiting.

Blitzen I know what you mean about the AD!  I did an AD with a WGSL (the one I posted) and a WGWL this past spring and both my dogs were over trained compared to the rest.  I had trained them to gait on the right side of a bike (as pictured) and would bike as fast as I could move them right before they broke into a run and this is the pace we trained.  When we got to the AD the other GSDs were just trotting along and the Rottweilers just went a much slower pace altogether.  My young WL dog actually pulled his handler for the first 11 miles (she never pedaled).
