I own two shepherds.  I feel they are some of the best in the world.  That is why I have them.  Everyones feelings of what makes the best is going to be different.  Why would someone buy one that they feel isn't?  Some who are from the working line side posted polite areas they thought are lacking.  But they did it in  a polite respectful way.  The others were just rude and uncalled for.  Congratulations May you have many full years with your beauties.

thanks rtdmmcintyre I appreciate your comments, correct after having already a magnificent male from -bad-boll / piste trophe kennels that has proven to be the best companion to not just myself, but my partner also, his loving temperament is magnificent, he surpasses everything we could have wanted...
Little "Raisa" has already broken my partners heart, whilst in quarantine - she is so loving, playfull, intelligent, and yes she is stunning, in the 51 days she has been in quarantine in Melbourne Australia, my partner has travelled near close to 20,000 klm to visit her many times in quarantine to socialise with her - we live 4,500 round trip to where she is kept in quarantine.... we did this for Focus, and I think that this helped considerably with him getting to bond with us....I will go next week with my partner to collect her, home committments made it impossible for me to visit her also, but my partner has had the pleasure of quality time with her, as with Focus she will be a big part of our family home as with our other german shepherds, sheep and cattle-........it is good that "elephants" are not so easy to come by, I would probably share my home with them also....

Congratulations on your beautiful girl.

51 days +  in quarantine, that is a long time, isn't the normal only 30 days?

dogshome9 yes 51 days is long, but Australian quarantine stipulates that a dog must remain in the country of Germany 150 to qualify for only 30 days in Australian quarantine....Raisa was just outside of this so had to spend a little extra in Australian quarantine.

In saying this, I believe as from February next year 2014, Dogs coming to Australia (as long as they qualify for Australian regulations on Import) will only need to spend
10 days in quarantine... this is excellent as 30 days is too long especially when the dogs have already been rigidly tested in the country of origin (in particular Germany) and have passed the required specifications as set out in the "Disease Testing stipulated to be carried out by approved Export Government vets.".

hope this explains your question....

***As is s now, once a rabies test is taken it has a total of 180 days clearance - normally 150 days is spent in the Country of Origin with the 30 days in Australian quarantine, (of course the 150 days does not require quarantine in its own country and remains with the Exporter - if it doesn't and is sent earlier then remaining time must be spent in our Quarantine station..
