I read somewhere else today that the 'stick attack' in IPO will not be permitted after 2015 or 2017. Does anyone here have information to confirm or refute this?

Cannot understand how this is going to be helpful in any way other than to make it easier to get IPO titles. If this comes from FCI then what can be done to avoid this none sense?

Pretty much a who cares issue.  Any dog can be taught to tolerate a fake stick attack as in IPO so who cares if it goes away??  It's not a stick and the dog isn't getting hit with anything that causes pain or harm.  It just confuses those not "in on the joke" spectators into thinking the dog is really getting hit or hurt while making the protection look more real than it is.  Anyone who wants to use real stick hits or padded sticks during practice is free to do so if they want to prove the bravery of their dog.  Any dog used to the stick hits used now will do just fine without them.

hey bubba; can you make yourself available for seminars?  I would love to see ''any'' dog get prepared for stick hits. You concentrate so much on what is problematic in the IPO world please get '' out there'' and help me understand. This is a real problem for our breed and I say let's make a ''line in the sand'' where the USA will not go. Correct stick work in our trials and breed surveys is a must.

Schutzhund=protection dog. Where? I have seen very few lately. Sport dogs yes,  I have seen a bunch of them.  But will they really do protection work? We need stick hits and rid ourselves of helpers and get agitators or attackers and run the weak off of the field.

TRIAL  A trial is a coming together of parties to present proof or evidence in a formal setting to show the evidence that the dog is willing, ready and able to do the task at hand.  That task needs to be proven. We are not proving protection dogs at Sch or IPO trials anymore.

I should be able to take ANY Sch 1 dog and it protect someone and a Sch 3 dog should be great at it. But in fact it is not true. They are not schutzhund (protection dog) they are sport dogs. Highly trained? Yes. Is this training good? Yes. Is it Schutzund? No.

I have no use for a dog just to play the game. I do have use for a dog that will do the work. We live in perilous times where crime is high and the threat is real. I personally would like to see training and trials that would prove that.

The times we live in are changing for the worse. The police in my city will rarely come and write a report on a theft or vandalism. They used to take finger prints and investigate, now they just do not have the time. I had an accident in Midland Texas and the police do not write reports unless there is an injury. Times are changing and we HAVE TO PROTECT OUR SELVES. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. The judicial system has failed and our LE's hands are tied.

I have been to a lot of IPO  events in the last 10 weeks. At every level I see dogs I like. At every level I see dogs I do not care for. What I can not understand is how some people claim that  the total experience is bad. Where can I find the real ''man stoppers'' and ''world beaters''? I must be missing something! I want to respond to is the implication that there will be no stick hits in IPO. I will use my influence to stop this negative change. The leaders of the national clubs must unite against this omission.

The stick attack is going to disappear .. clearly they will use an invisible stick.  I'm using all my influence to get a white Christmas in Australia.

I didn´t hear about this yet, but if it´s true, it´s no surprise.
It´s not about FCI, it´s about animal rights. The clubs are not asked, it´s the law ( like e-collars, pinch collars ), there is no chance...
I may be wrong, but I think, in Switzerland stick hits already are forbidden.

When you make a spectacle of what you do, the tree huggers will always try to make it illegal.
