i did my own research and it is called a "reverse mohawk."  Most likely your puppy will grow up to look like this, as he is a blue, and this includes the itchy and scratchy tatoos also.  Hope this helps.

LMAO! Nadeem... at least he keeps the grumpy face :)

Jen... you know I'd take him if I could. :)

Our resident "grumpy old man" has a funny part on his head too... but he doesn't have the double coat, obviously. This pic is not a good comparison, but you can see sort of where it lies. It is especially prevalent when his hair gets really long, or just after he gets groomed... right now he's in his fluffy teddy bear stage so I can't get a good shot, but you can see all the way to his skin when he has it. Is it possible that Blue-Boy's undercoat hasn't quite grown in on his noggin' yet?

Jenna fear not! Your puppy has a way better chance of landing a good job than this pix that Nadeem posted. Cause that dude is messed up! Hope he works for the circus.
I've seen some weird stuff on dog's heads, but a part line is a new one on me. I hope that as he matures and his adult coat comes in it will fill in naturally. Otherwise you may have to try some Rogaine'
Or spray paint?
Really cute pups.

I think its a variation of the canine color dilution alopecia (CDA)/dysplasia affecting an ectodermal fold during development. Another possibility is a skin fungal infection of some sort.

Fry, I was gonna say, better that pup than my son ending up looking like that! Ha!

Guddu, been talking with vet this evening. He believes it's a simple congenital issue, unrelated to color, as the CDA stuff doesn't start until later...not at birth, and there are no signs of inflammation like there would likely be in a fungal case.  The line is too straight and it's been there too long, unchanged. Hence the WTH???? that I keep thinking! <shrug> It may be like my son's "seam" on his neck...congenital defect...oh no........is this a sign? What Smile I hope he doesn't end up like my son!Teeth Smile

I can't do much but keep updating if it changes- let's see who guesses right- the vets, Guddu, or Nadeem? LOL LOL

Friend just sent this and said to put it where Ely can see it. ROFL!

Congenital defect or not, I think he's a gorgeous puppy... Too bad it's the E litter because I'd name him Blade. LOL.Wink Smile

Well...not like he's the top breeding prospect, so I really don't think call name is an issue, LOL. "E" names are just required for registration. Blade is a great name!

His personality fits "Ely" which is what I've been calling him...other than "Comb-Over." Sometimes we jokingly call him Earl (old man name) or last night, my bf's friend came up with "Engelbert". He only looks grumpy- he's super upbeat and feisty- happy and confident. Ely, or Eli(like Elijah shortened) sounds inquisitive and intelligent, I think. He's both.

Great personality, which is a good thing; he's going to need it with that hairdo!!!Shades Smile

I know only his registered name needs to start with an E:) ...  But you have to admit Blade as in steel blade fits because he's blue, plus it kinda looks like he had an ax blade in his head and has a scar (just a joke, don't take it the wrong way, please!) The more I think about Blade as a name, the more i like it, LOL. Too bad I have no room in my household right now... i'd love to have him, I think he'll grow up and be magnificent. (he'll have character, you can call it a war wound :)
