border not sure why you would think i would have a clue re breeders, maybe you have mistaken me with "VKGSD" who may be less clueless than me. i am in BFE rural oz, i have not, and will not look to the US to buy my future gsd, i would get frozen semen from he US perhaps, the kennels i follow are mainly in belgium, sweeden, netherlands which is not what you asked in this thread.

question is hard cos the US guys i like hardly have their own lines technically speaking, they mainly have dogs imported from euro including females in whelp with much hype and then kind of fizzle out within 3 generations.

i like what nate harves does and k9imports (gabor?), i like the puppy program at canczech and their young dog training program but have not studied the peds that much.

i follow what staatsmach does but on a previous thread some US people claim they can not be considered a US kennel, more like a transplanted german one???

call me backward looking but i want to delve back into the pool of what i already got ie gento which is a dog of no significance to US breeders and never really was....you fools.

of the few US breeders i liked and have contacted re some of their breeding choices/combination i get the same style of reply, they choose a more user-friendly, bouncy type dog that has more chance of uptake for a broader range of working dog buyer, raw aggression is something the ones i have spoken to bred away from. they see no future in their client base for this style of dog and hey they can't keep all the dogs they breed.

the other main trend in US gsd programs i have no interest in is -  big, black and dumb;  eg massive head, bone, dark pigmented family ready pets  PUUUUUUKE.

i know nothing about leerburg dogs, do they still breed gsd? surely they would have to be in the top 10 with the profile Ed has???

prolly not what you were after but gento over a female with lots of nick and some elluite mon/olex/sid all the way for me, not much else rocks my boat atm.

I can only vouch for a couple from personal experience.
Carol and George Norris at NorrisNK9 in Alabama. They are wonderful people to work with who stand behind their dogs. Carol's knowledge of GSD's and their bloodlines is a valuable asset to her breeding program. Her breeding dogs all have wonderful temperaments, great drives and beautiful conformation. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another dog from them.

Steve Zorn...although not technically a breeder (at this time) he is another person with a great deal of knowledge and integrity and a pleasure to do business with. His female is what all breeders should strive to produce, beauty, temperament, and the right level and balance of drives.

I count my self more to a different kind breeder, but thank you "vk4gsd for mention my name.

I would like to know from the other people here why they mention a kennel name in this order
                             Bloodlines
                           *Quality Of Offspring
                            *Reputation
maybe i missed something but i can not really figure out how some names come up here?is it because they have import a dog with a great name or is there somewhere success full offspring or is there a dog out of this kennel with many many studs or maybe some females in other breeding programs.

Vom Tajgetosz (k9imports.com) is for sure one kennel with success and maybe there are some more, but most of the kennels here in the US buy a mated female from europe and call them self breeder. that is not breeding that is try to make money.some broker tells you nice thinks about a female, makes maybe a nice looking video and mated her to a male with a good name.ok if that is breeding than we have a lot good breeders here in the US,the only problem is that you never see any dogs from this kennel some where.they all drown in the big world of working dog dreams.

VKGSDs

I listed Geistwasser because I was happy with the dog I received, he was the dog that I asked for which I know can sometimes be a crapshoot when buying an 8 week old puppy and not a green dog. He is qualified for IPO nationals at age 3 and will compete.  Also healthy and correct conformation (SG rated by an SV judge at a showline show at 13 months, hips and elbows both a-normal, correct dentition). They train and title their dogs (not just buying imports constantly), breed dogs with their kennel name, are active in a SchH club and the USCA organization, and they sell dogs to people who also train and title them (and not just in Schutzhund either).  I found them to be very ethical, transparent (allowed us to see their facility, see each dog, talk about each dog, did not see a bunch of "fluff" like super fancy kennels but saw the necessities and the training equipment I would expect from people who are actively involved).  I liked what I saw "on paper" and in person.  I would definitely go back to them and trust them to sell me a puppy or help me find a suitable green dog.  So yes I was happy with the quality of the dogs I saw and the dog I received, happy with the bloodlines, and felt they had a good reputation (I know many other people who are training and competing with their dogs).
