GSDC of America

We Heard You

What's Happening???
There have been many SV/WUSV sport enthusiasts asking questions about what is happening.  The GSDCA heard those voices and responded by forming a GSDCA committee for those interested in SV sanctioned events.

Since the beginning, the GSDCA has supported the interests of its members.  The Board of Directors of the GSDCA started a working dog program in 1982.  These dedicated members of the GSDCA created an "arm" and named it the GSDCA-WDA.

How Did We Get Here???
When the GSDCA agreed to host the 2013 World Championship, many years ago, the financial requirements to host this event were still hazy.  As the time grew closer to the event, we began to realize that this event would be a large financial loss.  To date, that loss is $105,000.

We could have backed out, but decided that we had already made the commitment to the IPO sport participants and we would not disappoint them.  The event has been proclaimed worldwide as the best World Championship Trials in the history of the event.  Bear in mind, this was accomplished by the dedicated members of the GSDCA and IPO supporters.

The Role of the GSDCA-WDA (WDA)...
The "arm" of the GSDCA, known as the GSDCA-WDA (WDA), began to take a different path.  WDA members receive no timely board minutes, no accurate or detailed financial reports and they are unaware of repeated violations of their By-Laws.

We know that you have complained to WDA and your complaints have fallen on "deaf" ears.  As a result many of you have resigned and left WDA.  A large number of these people are still members of the GSDCA and asked the GSDCA to create a committee for SV/WUSV programs.  The GSDCA listened and created a committee of experienced members in the venue to conduct business according to the guidelines established by the SV & WUSV.  This committee IS responsive to the members.

You ask, who are the members of this new committee?  I can now disclose a partial list of people who have been working hard to get everything in place for a professional and timely handling of all paperwork and events.  Russ Osburn, Doug Alexander, Cindy Schneider, Paul Schneider, Mike West, Mike Andrel, Mike Karlov, Mary Gattone, Martylou Plinski, Pam Stoesser, Ron Gordon, Morton Goldfarb, Helen Gleason, Carmen Battaglia and the executive committee of the GSDCA, Lanalee Law, Lew Bunch, Dean Wylie and Jim Moses.

Joy Schultz will be handling all paperwork associated with the venue.  In a future Constant Contact I will provide you with phone numbers and e-mail addresses for the committee members so that you may contact them directly.

The GSDCA supports all venues that our members wish to participate in.  Our organization has met the requests of the members for 100 years with a sound financial footing, organizational skills and always its dedication to the German Shepherd Dog.

Bottom Line???
Rest assured that SV/WUSV programs, rules and regulations, and the FCI breed standard will be followed.

Thank you for your continued support in these difficult times!   Frank Fasano President, German Shepherd Dog Club of America

"Rest assured that SV/WUSV programs, rules and regulations, and the FCI breed standard will be followed."

If only the last sentence were true . . I wish the GSDCA would follow the FCI standard.

Odinfan:

I have no inside tract to any information relating to Mr. Fasano's post but I expect his meaning is that the Committee's programs will follow FCI's Breed Standard.  As difficult as it would be, if not impossible, for the GSDCA to change its ByLaws to accept the World Standard, I don't see it happening in the foreseeable future. However, it would certainly please me for our nation to join the rest of the world in the breed.

If GSDCA is 90% ASL owners, and they dog give a damn about working titles and hip/elbow certs, whey for one minute does anyont thing a comittee will have any more lock than the WDA..

This is laughable.

What's laughable is your level of denial.  When you, Dan, John and bubbabooboo are the last four people in the WDA, will you still be telling us how strong and viable it is?

by cmandela on 16 May 2014 - 13:05

For now only the new Working Dog Committee needs to follow the SV/FCI standard not the entire GSDCA.  There is no reason for the committee to NOT follow the SV/FCI standard.

So then what's the point?  The GSDCA is "re-creating" WDA with a different name but all the same old rules and separations?

Where is the "New and Improved"?  What's changing?  Only thing I see attempting to be changed is the names of who's in charge of what. ANd I HAVE to comment on the whole budget was "hazy" comment.  GSDCA (not WDA) agreed to host this event.  They(GSDCA)  didn't know what they were getting themselves into???  Whose fault is that??  Whose fault is it that GSDCA - who ran the World Championships - LOST 105K??!?.  USCA didn't lose money when they hosted it a few short years ago.  So the rationale is that if GSDCA LOST money on the event then everyone else associated should lose out too?  The whole letter reeks of GSDCA sour grapes at losing money on an event that was "hazy" to them.  To the rest of us the WUSV is not and has never been hazy.

Still have not heard from the WUSV on all of this and don't kid yourselves.  The WUSV holds the reins to all the ponies in this country.  What it says goes.

Keith,

Apparently, there will be at least FIVE people left in WDA.  Regular Smile  Actually, I can think of at least a couple  more who will have  to remain with any remnant WDA, because they left USCA under the specter of BOI charges being filed against them.  Hopefully, those individuas, should they attempt to (re)join USCA  would/will simply not be allowed to join USCA, a la Helser.   There is no sense taking back people who ran out, just ahead of potential  discipline  (suspension/expulsion), when you know that eventually the organization will have to get rid of them via the disciplinary procedure anyway.  It's easier and cleaner to just not let them in (or back in) in the first place.   Leopards really don't change their spots.

  • Wallace Payne I've counted five trials between June and November that WDA have scheduled with SV judges, what is going to happen to those trials? I also know that the SV has not said ONE WORD about the GSDCA and WDA civil war nor have they said they will not continue to send judges to the WDA.

  • Wallace Payne What's getting old is, both Frank Fasano and Dan Yee are only talking about who is wrong or who is right, who lied and who did not! No one has shown one piece of legal document filed or one piece of court document severed. Like I said, the

  • Wallace Payne Sorry I can't type well, Like I said the SV have not shown public support to either GSDCA or WDA. I challenge GSDCA to show where they are getting support from the SV and I challenge WDA to do the same...Don't sing it, bring it!

  • Wallace Payne One last thing, the WUSV want desperately to have one member per country where they have two. Japan now have one, and so does Hungary. Explain Mr. Dan Yee, why in the HELL would the WUSV take the WUSV membership from GSDCA and give it to WDA and still have TWO voting WUSV members in this country?

  • Wallace Payne Better yet Mr.Yee you don't have to tell me shit. Tell your faithful members.

Nia,

Even if a Leopard could change it's spots, it would still be a Leopard just without spots...LOL
