I was at both of the events linked above..
And actually belonged to the club that hosted the IPO trial... it was Good Shepherd Schutzhund Club and it was a WDA club.

At the GSDCA regional show, the trial was held outside and was completely the responsibility of the WDA club. Two completely seperate events held on the same day at the same venue. The GSDCA members snubbed their noses at us. Zaira Valdy-Sal took top dog, she was an amazing bitch.

At the trial in November I entered a bitch for BH, and my entry was handled thru the local club.

GSDCA wanted to take credit for the trials, but they hand nothing to do with running the trial.

CRMandela,

In addition to the events you listed, the GSDCA held a WDS National Championship 4 or 5 years ago at their national conformation show. I believe the event was in Ohio. I know the person and dog that won it.

The one thing we can be sure of is that there will be fewer total IPO events involving the GSD each year as the IPO sport is dying as fast as the mean spirited and arrogant but somehow uniquely without talent IPO GSD sport clubs can kill it.  In 5 years there will be 50% fewer IPO events because the GSD IPO world is corrupt and arrogant.  The GSD owners have and continue to vote with their feet and their money and run away from this stupidity.  Perhaps the DVG will soldier on as they alone in the IPO world seem to be more involved in loving and training dogs than ego and organizational warfare but then again they are all breed.  Perhaps the Pit Bull, Rotties, and Mals will inherit IPO once the GSD IPO folks have killed off the sport for themselves.

One who does not participate in the sport, Should only comment on what he knows so I,d imagine we would,nt hear much from you! Dog sport of many types will still be here many years from now. Whether it,s a national organization or a dedicated group of practitioners.

The WDS Trial held on November 7-8 did not involve any WDA club and was hosted specifically by the GSDCA.  Looking at the WDA Trial results for 2008, http://www.gsdca-wda.org/documents/pdf/eventresults/2008trialresults.pdf, I can find no results for this event on the listing.  The results are listed in the GSDCA Results Archive.

The WDA Trial held on December 13-14, 2008 was a GSDCA event but was hosted by a WDA club.  However the only results of the trial posted on the WDA site are for the BH results.  The actual trial results are posted in the GSDCA Results Archive, which indicates it was a GSDCA event.  Kim which dog did you say you entered for a BH?

I was a member of Good Shepherd Schutzhund Club at the time, they had 2 trials a year, I had a dog named Sita at the time, and must have entered the spring trial. We failed my first BH... she pee'd on the field...Lol.

Good Shepherd Schutzhund Club was a WDA club. They did all the work. I attended all trials while I was a member of that club.

The Sheepdog ran off the field, as it did for each BH that was attempted.

 Christine,

Thank you for doing the research to maintain factual  accuracy during this discussion.   Obviously, "being there" is not synonymous with accurately reporting the facts.  Regular Smile

Boo Boo:   There will still be people training, trialing and titling in schutzhund/IPO long after your bitterness has left this realm.   One must wonder why you would even care enough about this to post--it has NOTHING to do with you, or candy.

in 2008 the gsdca was doing what its doing now. the relationship in between gsdca and wda has been full of strife for many years.
they started the WDS titles, and had one or two trials and then let the program drop.

IMO, gsdca will soon realize that there's no money in holding trials and once again loose interest. for now, its just a pissing match. add to this, the fact that the vast majority of gsdca members are asl owners and will eventually (if not already) complain about the money being wasted on such trials.

i would think that since the gsdca has had minimal interest and IPO sport for the past 30+ years, and that there is an agreement that WDA wouild be responsible for such events, a case can be made.
