I agree with you entirely, Zoe. Tea tree oil is fine when mixed with dilute shampoo and is rinsed off with the shampoo. Hmm..., I'm going to start a new thread on diet as this one loads terribly slowy.

My dog had food allergies. I tried all the top name brand dog foods and nothing seemed to help that much. I finally switched my puppy to BARF about 6 months ago (he is now 10 months) and he is doing wonderful on it, he showed an improvement with in a few days on BARF. I do not prepare my own raw foods I buy Dr. Billinghurst premade patties. You can find a lot of info on raw here: http://www.barfworld.com/ Alot of Vets do not like BARF for their own reasons, fortunately there are a few Vets in my area that recommend nothing but BARF.

OHHHHH MY ......due to complications I have not been able to post...BUT HOW did I get onvolved in Carly's attack! LOL Too funny..... I reccomend a book by Kymathy Schultz called Natural Nutrition....awesome book... Also there is a site for a grain free feed that you add raw to it....www.happydogfood.com I personally do not trust anyone but me to prepare the food for my dog. I find that Billingwurst is very expensive comapred to the cost of making it all on your own...but if it works THATS what counts the most. I love the supplements from Solid Gold...Life Exxtension, MSM and Seameal. MY Aust Cattle Dog has spinal issues and arthritis and SHE acts like a puppy now after being on raw and these supplements! She is only 2 but she was acting like she was 10!I also add wheatgrass for moisture! It has many healing properties as well! Doreen

Tom Lonsdale (veterinarian) has the best book to refute your vet's arguments against raw, "Raw Meaty Bones" and now he's written a user-friendly book I think I will give away with my raw-raised pups, it's called "Work Wonders, Feed Your Dog Raw Meaty Bones" and you can get it here: http://www.dogwise.com/index.cfm?AffiliateID=45173&Method=2

Kerry mentioned earlier feeding a pureed mixture containing rasins. DO NOT FEED YOUR DOGS RASINS OR GRAPES!!! They can cause kidney failure!(this is a recent discovery). The toxic amount is unknown, some dogs have been affected by only a few, others walk away unharmed. You should be able to find more info on this at the National Animal Poison Control Center website.

Actually, back in 11/03, Kerry was quoting ME when she mentioned the inclusion of grapes and raisins in the raw fruit/vegetable puree. Here it is nearly 2 years later and my dogs have had no problems whatsoever. However, the grapes/raisins I feed my dogs are from the same source, organically grown, and always red, flame, or black because richly pigmented produce contains more phytonutrients. I don't know of any negative effects of currants--which are included in some of the Timberwolf dry diets. However, research on the internet does indicate that the potential risk of nephrotoxicity is REAL with grapes and raisins. Louise Penery
