Does anyone know of any GSD forums and Email Lists that welcome all German Shepherd bloodlines; all areas of competition; and non-show GSDs? I'm being serious. I'm tired of visiting one forum or List after another and having it be heavily skewed- so that owners of other German shepherds who may be different from majority get critized. It's getting really freaking old and I'm frustrated.

I want to find a place where there is no separation and everyone just supports and respects each other....even if they don't agree with each other. I don't give a damn if you have a white shepherd, ASL, GSL, GWL, Coat, GSD mix....just be a GSD lover and let there be a safe place for everyone to discuss. I'm getting sick and tired of all the bullshit.

If anyone can share any forums or Lists please do so.....thanks.

That says a lot about our breed....pretty sad.

by old shatterhand on 16 September 2015 - 02:09

That's say a lot not about the breed,to me that say a lot about the German Shepherd people, they can't get alone with each other and they would rather harm you than help you.Yes this is indeed very sad.

I couldn't agree more shatterhand. I have tried everything, separate forums, coming down on those who can't take a hint and get along with others and so many subtle little things you guys don't even know about - and guess what happened - people left in search of greener pastures - because it is always better someplace else. Frustrated - lol, you don't know the half of it. Members and past admin fighting against my stand on being civil to one another. I have always been taught and have read studies of how owning animals(dogs) is supposed to make us more compassionate, loving and understanding and frankly I just do not see it among a lot of past/present members here. We have a lot of great members who are good people but the bad ones surely sour us to the whole concept of forums, lists and especially Facebook. I hear over and over how these pedigrees are such a great resource but yet the man who has poured a third of his life into this site is treated with such disrespect - how is that you may wonder? Oli is a good man with a heart of gold - not many people I can honestly say that about. And what does he get in return? Members who because the sun don't shine on their asses right, leave and start forums and secretly in PMs invite as many members away from here as they possibly can. Members and past admin who when the going gets though and problems come up run away from this resource - a free resource I must add. Members who push other members and admin to the point of no return, if you respect this site and Oli how can some of you guys act the way you do and then get all upset, threaten to leave, leave, comeback, start more shit, when told to stop. act like 5 year olds and stomp your feet because your liberty, freedumb of speech and any other little whine assed excuse you can pull out of your ass to cover YOUR bad behavior, because YOUR behavior is always someone elses fault, right? Honestly, some members make me want to get completely out of dogs except for the fact - that I know deep down that there are really good people out there with a heart of gold, like Oli and dozens of members here.

I see something happening here and everywhere on the web - free sites will soon be a thing of the past. When apple releases the next version of its software - you will see a lot of free sites disappear or find other sources of $$$ in the next few years. It is happening and will continue to happen. Sites like this aren't free to maintain in a safe and secure way. But man anyone can start a free forum and let the server owner make $$$$ off of all of you who use those types of sites and invite Oli's members away. Sad really, for this self proclaimed great resource IMHO is a dying breed like so many other sites that will soon be gone. To those who run free forums - I ask you - why are these forum sites free? Because we all know nothing in life is really free except compassion, civility, understanding, community, friendship and love.

As you can all tell if you read my complete post - I am not big on threads like this and as a matter of fact - I will probably delete this thread. Because there are better ways to solve problems than picking up our toys and running to the next forum and when things go south there, on to the next perfect little site - it doesn't exist folks. No matter how hard we try - it is up to every member here to look inside themselves and ask what can we all do better to make it better. I have never been one to run away from a problem, fight or trouble. I tend to throw myself at those problems or troubles. Not run away because again there aren't any perfect sites/lives/people out there. It is what we make it folks and that is the bottom line.

Thanks Living Fence for this good article.  http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/20/technology/personaltech/ad-blockers-and-the-nuisance-at-the-heart-of-the-modern-web.html

GSD...agree. Well, said but it gets exhausting. On here...it's WL 24/7 and all else sucks. And....I have a WL!! On a List I was on it was ASL 24/7 and all else sucks.

It's not about running away it's about trying to change things to no avail and finally being sick of all the bullshit.

I don't see why there can't be a place for GSD lovers (as the only requirement) with a safe space for everyone.

Some do run away, some say they are running away but really they don't - some stay and try to ignore those who have a God complex about what they see as "perfect" whether it be SL, WL or ASL. There is no perfect group but I must admit and I know this may piss off a group here but I can only tell it as I see it - WL people far and above the rest, think they have all the answers. And they tend to be the most difficult to deal with whether that is in an admin roll or as a member. I have never owned a show line but I wouldn't dare act as some do here towards the other groups. I do what I can do to the best of my ability and as long as I do that and treat my customers with respect and compassion - I have done all I could and my conscience is clear. I am not going to change the minds of those who love SL nor am I going to allow SL people to change my mind on what I like. But I can and will treat them with respect, civility and understanding.

I also want a place where for the sake of the animals we love we come together and put our differences behind us for better education and understanding of our breeds. Sites like this can be so helpful but they can also be very destructive when we all allow people to attack and marginalize people all for our own little feelings of knowing what we think is right.

I can't worry about what everybody else does but I can change and do better at what I do. If you love working lines then do the best you can but don't tell others who love show lines that they don't have a clue, work on your own problems.

Hear, hear !
Another thred has just petered out probably because one poster had suggested that
owners who don't 'work' their dogs ( by which he means biteworking their dogs) know
nothing, while at least one of those he was disagreeing with in fact does do bitework
training with his dog, but differently; [plus another - me - am almost certainly older

than he is and as my experience with all aspects of the GSD probably go back longer

than does his, despite my not training bitework MYSELF, does not mean I don't know

some things about GSDs working in bitework for others].   Sad thing is, he does

understand a lot about the dogs and is reputedly good at the working arena he has

chosen to involve himself in.  I'd often be in agreement with him.  But he thinks that

everyone who does not do it the same way as him is "uneducated", so that deserves a

put-down !

Mind you, I think some of his antagonism towards me isn't about dogs at all, but is

because I dared to argue with some Political beliefs he espoused recently on another thred ...
