An elder acquaintance is committed to hospital and is giving up his dutch impory working GSD. Currently a care taker is putting food through a window because the dog is very terrtorial and the care take is afraid to be bitten.
Any advice on how a new prospective owner can safely remove this dog from the house?

Call animal control    They can put a noose on it through the window and then put in crate for new owner.

I don't like calling Animal Control for anything...They could very well destroy this dog...
Maybe if you could state about where this dog is located someone could help...
In anyway you look at it someone is going to have to go into the house and face the dog...You have to be prepared when you go in...I'd have a Leash...Some Food...and at least a Noose to control the dog if needed...
Someone with experience might be able to coax the dog into allowing them to help it...
You can also use a crate of some sort and put food in it and capturing it so you can remove it safely...

You just need some capable handlers with more experience than ego. It's just a dog, not a lion.

Oh, the irony. Clearly, the caretaker shouldn't try doing so, but Jenni's right. I agree with not getting AC involved if at all possible, so make damn sure that there's no way the dog can escape the house and end up outside and at large during the process. Wouldn't surprise me, though, if all it really takes is having a key to the door, bringing in a crate [if there isn't one already there], and telling the dog to kennel up--intruders don't generally unlock the door to enter, after all.

Generally speaking, where's the acquaintance's place located?

Guess in the country we have a different relationship with our AC's we even ride together of course we only have two for the area so we all know one another.

But anyone with the skill to get a noose on the dog will be OK .

Good luck
