Hi all,

I have a question... As I'm trying to solve if I got entirely screwed over..
My question is... Is the breeder suppose to only give you the pedigree for the sire? Only? I do not know how to read pedigrees amazingly, but my friend read my dogs pedigree and said this pedigree I was given has only the sires, the dam is completely missing.

Are both of the parents suppose to be included IN the pedigree, or, just one of the parents?

My friend and I think we got screwed over by a breeder (not naming who), when we looked at the puppies and were promised one of them, but... We assumed she never even had a dog for us, so gave us a random puppy that was returned to her that has issues... Our current puppy has count less of issues ... He's insanely aggressive, and fearful, just yesterday he tried to bite my friend.

We also do not think he is the age she told us, because the puppies we saw at 7 weeks, were very small and very different looking, at 8 weeks he looked like a giant and completely different than all the other pups, which we found odd. To this day, he is apparently 4-5 months, and he is already almost the size as my friend's rottie / shepherd mix.

At around 4 months, he already has his back molars.

I don't know if I'm just overthinking but I do feel something is wrong, is this normal? We still haven't received his registration papers, but I do assume those come in at 6 months, right...

Papers  Was this an import  papers information should have come with puppy  AKC litter with pup if parents are AKC or reg AKC then with pup.

You don't give enough information for others to really be able to help you

We need pictures of your pup and what pedigree you have as well as the Registry they a with.

My 8 week olds look quite large compared to some friends.  I feed and raise different.

What does to breeder say to your concerns.

Enter the pedigree in PDB including a date of birth and Breed Book and reg numbers for a couple of generations and that way we can answer your question.

I also agree with Western Rider. Contact the breeder and ask about the dam. They must have the information.

It is amazing to me how people will know the sire of a dog, but not know the dam. Where did the puppies come from? Surely the sire did not deliver them.Wink Smile

The puppy was not an import, I went there, looked at them (breeder would not allow me to play with them), held some in the pen.. Breeder said she only had one left, didn't know what pup it was.

Apparently the parents are registered. Because breeder is some sort of champion breeder.

We were told we had to wait 6 months, breeder did not tell us this, but a friend..

I cannot find my pups parents on the Pedigree Database, but can find some of what he's related to, can I PM them to you?

Could I PM this stuff to you? Breeder is aware of forums like these.. So I'm a bit terrified of posting any details.
Also, I have contacted breeder about the pedigree, we never got an answer back.. Breeder is known for ignoring phone calls & emails..

Also, yes, embarrassingly, I assumed the pedigree were given to us had both parents on it, friend looked at it, and said it was just the sires... But, than again she could be wrong?

I can't read pedigrees so, I'm useless when it comes to that.

You didn´t receive the "real" pedigrees yet, why don´t you just ASK the breeder about the dam/ the whole ped?
Sometimes it´s lack of communication only... I hope, that´s what it is in your case.
Did you buy an "AKC registered pup"? In that case there has to be a dam ( there always is... )
All the best!

I think I'm just overthinking the entire situation because, already 30 people have told me, "he's too big" and "that's not normal" a bunch of nonsense.

I do believe it could be a form of miscommunication, to be honest, I'm a little scared of the breeder now, partly because of how aggressive the breeder comes off as. I called breeder months ago asking if we could get the registration papers, and pedigree, breeder never got back to us. Breeder has ignored our phone calls before, time to time, but don't know if she means too, because she is obviously busy. That's why I assumed, maybe the real pedigree & papers come at .. 6 Months, right?

Breeder has swore at me over the phone too, and freaked out at me, so, I tend to stay away from calling breeder.

It's just so weird because, he's so fearful aggressive, yet, none of the puppies seemed so fearful when we looked at them... A friend of mine believes he's just a random pup. But, I never believed that, just too many people commenting so it's getting through my head haha.

Edit: Breeder also told us it 'comes in the mail' and 'takes some time' but, then again, it's been months, so I don't know.

Sorry guys this is my first dog too, so it's been an emotional rollercoaster.

Right now you do have 2 different issues:

1. the pedigrees
2. the temperament of your pup

In the first case you have to deal with the breeder, in the second case you have to deal with the pup, and help him to ( hopefully ) overcome his issues.

In case any "German import" is involved ( difficulties with registration ), you may PM me, maybe I am able to help.

Does it really matter if the breeder reads these posts? What is she going to do to you? Not give you another poor-temperamented puppy?

Official breed club papers do take some time to arrive, and they will be sent directly to your address if the breeder entered it correctly when she did the paperwork.
