Mountain Lion

Hi Bee,

Glad to hear your son did well and made the paper.

Sock it to them and charge them double when they come your way.

Shame on them for charging you.

Nice and warm today.

Yeah, turned out to be rather pleasant once the afternoon rolled around. Now if that damn paper person would stop throwing the paper into the trees where the dog can't get it, that would be great. I don't know if they hired someone new, or we forgot to tip them at Xmas time, but there has been a marked decrease in timeliness and aim, lately. I called and complained and it got better for about two days. Back to crappy throws. Good thing I get the news digitally sent, too. Otherwise, I might never have read my son's name in the HS sports section!

They still have paper runs in the states?? Maybe its a city thing. Do you have milk delivery as well?

by beetree on 27 January 2017 - 13:01

Yes, we still have paper delivery...from cars, not kids on bicycles.

I believe there is only one dairy farm left that still delivers to homes but they are not in my area. I found out that there is a Westchester, NY farm, that might come this far away. Other dairy farms will sell ice cream and other dairy products at their farms. The last dairy farm that used to deliver to homes here, closed up in 2011. Their land had become so valuable compared to the profits made from selling dairy which included a landmark destination dairy establishment popular with Harley bikers for decades.

My home used to be a dairy farmer's house. There are old beehive ovens in my cellar, too, that have been cemented up where I am told they used to bake and sell bread back in the 1800's. (I tell folks the real story is --that is where the bodies are buried. ;)). They still baled hay in the fields around me when we first bought it. Now the old barn is gone. The fields sold to a developer and now my neighbors all have bigger houses than my own.

The farms that remain have beef cattle and some exotics like alpaca, some sheep and goats. And others have barns for horses, of course. Lots of folks seem to be raising chickens at home, too.

Morning Bee,

Looks like you were up at the crack of dawn, or something like that. LOL

by beetree on 27 January 2017 - 18:01

Lol! —I was! Good thing, too, or I would have missed the entire amount of sunshine for the day! I think some folks around here are showing signs of SAD.

But not vk4, he is posting in an almost pleasant and helpful manner of late. That makes sense because he is enjoying summertime, afterall!
