Hi guys, first time posting here. Want to show my dog Coco.

Currently in the process of joining a Schutzhund club in my area and soon to get her evaluated and hopefully trained and titled.

I thought she was a Czechoslovakian Vlcak when I saw her.

Yeah, pretty hot debate. When people started commenting about her I also thought she might've been a Czech wolfdog mix.

But some people noted the London dogs (I know London was just one dog, but her lookalikes) on the show The Littlest Hobo has the white muzzle (usually GSD is all black muzzle) so I don't know.

The pedigree is questionable apparently, so who knows. Oh well. I still have to get that DNA test done, got the kit, haven't had time to take the sample yet. I'll be sure to post the results once I get them.

This dog DOES have a genuine AKC pedigree, so if she isn't a purebred German shepherd, the breeder is in BIG trouble!!

It's the first time I've seen a stacked photo of her, and her build makes me think part husky. Yes, huskies CAN have straight tails like that, and they also are very upright in the front end.

Well, the truth will out with the DNA test...

I think she's a very pretty girl, regardless of her parentage!

Thanks! So do all pure GSDs have a curved tail all the time? I'm pretty sure I've seen her curve her tail before, but not all the time.

And you pointed out as well she has no forechest at all, but in the picture she was only 9 months old and they say the chest fills out around 2-3 years if I'm not mistaken based on another post I read. But in this picture of a DDR (East german line) GSD it also has almost no forechest. So I still don't really know what to think. I guess it's all up to the DNA testing!

 

I won't lie though! I do have my own suspicion as well (afterall, that's why I'm posting it), the breeder was pretty dodgy when it came to questions about the mom! I have asked them for a picture of the mom again (only saw in person) and they won't respond!

 

Regardless of her lineage like everyone says, I love her with all my heart.

She's beautiful, regardless of her lineage or purity, and I hope the two of you have many healthy, loving years of fun together. With such a conglomeration of a pedigree, it's hard to say where the markings could have come from, but they may well come in via the whites behind her.

She is very pretty, but frankly on a first quick look just at your photo I thought you were posting us a Husky. Just not sure which sort (I am no kind of sled dog expert, LOL !) Then I realised this dog is registered as a German Shepherd Dog, and [sorry] I wanted to cry.

Looking again more closely, I can see 'something' of the GSD about her, especially in her headpiece. Don't major on all that Littlest Hobo/'reverse mask' thing, the "reverse" marking is far more common in GSDs across the world than some would have you believe. And London wasn't a terribly correct half-dozen GSDs anyway. Honestly ? I reckon she is 3/4 Siberian Husky mix. Which would make the pedigree a load of b******s. Which would mean the 'breeder' should get a riot off the AKC (but probably won't, or won't care if they do.)

Nonetheless I'm sure you will enjoy your very attractive dog, and if she does well with you at IPO (or any other activities you choose) I am sure you will enjoy that too. The rest is fairly irrelevant, in the wider scheme of life. Unless you had some dream of becoming a successful GSD breeder.

You had an enquiry about her tail : yes some dogs - of both breeds - hold their tails up in a curve and wave them about when they are excited, or feeling "bullish". The GSD tail is typically quite a bit longer than hers, their Standard asks for it to reach mid-hock; (which would make the second dog's incorrect, too). In many modern showline dogs it is noticeably longer than that. It SHOULD NOT have any sort of 'hook' in it, that would be a fault. But the "sabre-like curve" required does mean it is, sort of, a "curved tail all the time". In GSDs it can hang dead straight at rest; see, if you can make it out, the tail on the dog in my avatar pic.

My thoughts, too, Hexe!  Also the conformation of the whites is a bit different from the GSD - shorter backs, for instance. But that upright front and short tail DOES make her look like a husky or husky mix.
