If one were to look at a modern WGSL GSD with an eye to strong temperament and ability to work, what dogs should be in the background?

I am not knowledgeable about the past 'showlines' so would like to learn more about some of the dogs that were known for their working ability and also their genetic strength in passing that along.

Please keep on topic, as this is for learning and not bashing, thanks.

As Koots said above, keep this on topic and civil any bashing will be deleted.

Thanks Duke. I am not considering trying to improve workability in the working lines but just want to know which dogs, before the great 'split' were considered 'showlines that could work'. Jeck Noricum (?) was mentioned in another post, so would like to hear about more.

koots, these are dogs from after "the split ", you can look them up on PDB or workingdog, some dogs from personal experience thomsebo nike , the two wizzard hof litters from Ando Altenberger land with Haste kloostermoor gave strong dogs, Ajax was pretty well known I think, and here is a dog from Clark kennel that is well above average

That´s the first time someone mentions Nick Wienerau in the context of working ability - why?
Mithuna, I met Nick several times, owned a son...

He is the sire of the famous P-litter “vom Wildsteiger Land” (Palme, Perle), his daughter Jona is the foundation line for the Kennel “vom Fiemereck. And he is the grandsire of Fando Sudblick. Palma went on to be the "ma" of double Seiger ( 84,85 ) Uran. and Perle went VA1.
