Poor guy, offered up as the Dem’s Sacrificial Lamb. Falling on the designated political sword hasn’t worked before. Will it now? I don’t think so.

I think the Dems wanted to be able to counter all the "what about Franken" that they were dealing with when they wanted the Repubs to get rid of those politicians that either bragged about, justified, or are under multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.  I mean we have a president that bragged about sexual assault.  It's high time the "Good Ole' Boy" network and acceptance of sexual misconduct is called what it is, sexual misconduct/harassment/assault and not "gee boys will be boys".

I agree, I think. It is all a lead up to gain the moral high ground to finally, impeach Trump.

The problem with that tactic is that it isn't a Democratic or Republican problem. The Good Ole' Boy culture of sexually gratuitous and presumptive permissions is proving to be an across the board problem.

The daily apologies and exposures of the every day cad who sexually harasses/assaults in the workplace or elsewhere, and the degree to which one should suffer or be granted forgiveness are getting beyond our ability to fit into a defined sentence of punishment or penance. These offenses are as old as time and at what point do we decide if the old culture should have a statute of limitation as the new culture of victims-no-more, gains credence and insists on restitution.

I wonder at some point about the political motives of some claims of harm being exaggerated for an unwanted pass that included a sloppy kiss and now are said to have resulted in trauma for decades.

And then the different example of Mario Battalia. He is The Chew co-host and well known, uber anti-Trump tweeter, now disgraced for similar types of abuses. No one seems to be so outraged about his behavior compared to Trump's. Is that because he is a Democrat, or just a chef?

All in all, I don't think this tactic will result in an impeachment of Trump. He isn't going to be impeached and removed from office for his past. I just don't think that will happen no matter how many Democrats fall on their swords. It didn't happen when the Republicans did it during the Clinton impeachment hearings, either.

Mario Battali gave a good apology by owning up to what he did and calling it what it was, sexual harassment, Trump has yet to apologize and in fact bragged about it.  Trump has also made disparaging remarks regarding the looks of the women who accused him.  That is the difference.  Also Trump is the president, an office that should be conducted with class, compassion, and intelligence.

I always use the example of... if what you are about to do or have done is something that would upset you if done by someone else to your daughter, granddaughter, sister, then don't do it.  If your daughter, granddaughter, or sister came to you and told you about an incident where she was propositioned by her boss or some other man/was touched inappropriately/threatened with her job if she didn't go on a date/kissed against her will/etc., what would you think?

I think we can all agree that Dr. Larry Nassar is one of the biggest creeps of all time. His life is effectively over, we are throwing away the key! Yuck. All the USA gymnastics enablers deserve a good reckoning, too.

You know what really ticks me off Beetree?  When I went to school there in 2005 - 2007, it was a well known fact among the student body that Nassar was a creep and inappropriate with gymnasts.  My ex worked on the Campus FD station and Nassar was talked about in the 90's.  Meridian PD was told about him in 2004, State Police earlier, FBI a few years ago.  It was as if no one wanted to know since Nassar was seen as getting results with his methods and the girls were doing well in competitions.  Their sexual assault and sexual abuse was seen as girls overreacting and being overdramatic.  They were dismissed as irrelevant and unable to tell what is real vs. imagination.  It is infuriating since that is how it has been for far too long.

It took hundreds of girls finally having the courage to stand together in today's climate of #metoo to get anyone to take them seriously.  Now suddenly all the agencies that were told over the years about this are running around like Chicken Little terrified the sky is falling on them, MSU and it's administration is acting like it was a new thing, not like it was known about for over 30 years.  At least Meridian PD apologized, years later but they made the attempt.
