Those who know Czech - Page 1

My male was bred to a super nice female that has quite a bit of Czech in her. The litter was super nice and the breeder said he's never had a litter that had such strong female puppies before. Instead of a stud fee I got a little female and OMG I'm in love with this little girl. She's super handler focused. Already brings toys back, shows possession, naturally full grips (our dogs usually don't kick in until after six months)  and she's already a little pusher. Environmentally she's been strong so far. She went to Guiding Eyes with me and they were just in love with how confident she is. Anyhow, ya'll that know Czech, what can you tell me? I'm still learning. I know some goes back to old DDR Herding lines. But maybe some of ya'll known some of those dogs personally?

not much czech, sharon is one of the better producers of recent times here, strong confident dogs, sometimes handleragression(possesiveness)
Mambo is a nice dog to have in pedigree, produced many well balanced dogs, on/off switch, higher civil agression level, not allways great on the hips/elbows
but both good to have in a pedigree

I can definitely see the possession/food guarding etc.
Hips is what worries me, I can see laxity and I will cry if this puppy has to be washed due to hips. I'm going to get her prelimed in a month or two but yeah, hips is definitely a concern but she is a "wet" pup anyways. So I am hoping that I'm wrong.

I heard that Sharon was a super nice dog but the video thats on youtube doesn't seem to do him justice at all. Wish there was more out there about him.

She's a super fun puppy for sure. One of the most fun I had in a long time. I got her sister too and she is ridiculously fast for her age. She looks a lot tighter in her hips than her sister. Her sister is overall a "wet" dog though. Very thick bone, thick skin and just overall super stocky, whereas the other one has the structure of Athos, is lighter boned, and a more dry pup.

The combination definitely clicked.

Sharon is in USA now so must be able to get info, also littermates of Sharon produced well, Scoot and Sharona come to mind with good offspring, I had an extremely strong Sharon son that is in USA now named Nash mania Bohemia and I bred extremely nice offspring out of him, several in KNPV, one of them, bred to my czech lines is real topdog, but will not take unfair corrections and is extremely possesive on copper pipe, all hips and elbows clear and DM clear

I bought two Scoot pups lttermates @ 9 wks. Female missing upper p4 s. Both screamers.....sold them to homes who value extreme prey drive. Fact, one day I heard the male screaming like he had a leg caught in fence or sumpthin. I ran up the hill to the yard he was in....he was watching a little blue runner lizard. Nice looking pups.

I was the last owner of Charik...great grips but scared of our two sows and their litters of pigletts down in the pasture. Scared to go along with the side by side gator....I'm sure he never saw anything like this on the farm before, but he didn't get used to them. He never got confident going down open stairs. I retired him because of those issues ( for me they are inexcusable, I won't overlook them for hard grips).....plus the fact that out of four litters from different females, there were missing teeth that never were in any offspring from my females bred to other males.

I had one litter out of my Glitch female, who had 100% good hips in all her pups, one male that I know of from her has excellent ( he is iop3 dog in Wa state)...till I bred her to Charik...like you said, very wet, which was new for my pups, some with 'loose' hips and one female the laxity was so severe you could actually see and hear them 'popping' in and out ( about 4 months old) and she was not able to function...vet recommended pts.

That was the clencher for me to retire him...BTW, that Glitch female did not have any Mombo in her ped...

The female with Mombo who I bred him to, the pups all turned out with normal elbows and hips. Fact all her offspring from three different males have been healthy h/e.

...but the grips of his pups were genetic deep, calm, and crushing. Temperaments were mostly sound nerves and took after my Czech females...a couple, tho, were a tad unsure in new environments till they had multiple exposures, then were OK.

One of my pups from Charik/Igrochka is a search and rescue dog in Alberta, Can. Another one is a service dog for a war vet. A male and female are being used producing LE dogs and PP dogs at two different kennels, also in Canada. Another female is protection dog with a family in Tenn.  All these dogs had natural protection and territorial, but that is what my Czech females are and produced...Charik was not territorial, was friendly with all strangers, never standoffish, not what I would consider 'protective'....but yes, he was very possessive of sleeve, ball and dumbbell...
That "S" litter was probably his best.

This explains everything. Absolutely everything and is very good to know. The breeding female herself is super strong environmentally, however I've seen dogs with Charik that were super flighty.

Update on my pup: 

I just had her prelimed yesterday. She's super athletic, reckless even, but I just couldn't shake the feeling that her left hip wasn't a 100%. I could see the laxity. It's always been there from the very beginning. I love this puppy. I really clicked with her. Her temperament is out of this world phenomenal. She's a kids dog. The environmental stuff has mostly gone away but she's not a rock solid as I am used to. There is that little something that sometimes takes her a second too long.

She's going to have unilateral HD. Probably moderate. If not kept lean, with lots of swimming, maybe even severe.

She could probably live a normal life in a family. She'd probably even be the best dog they ever had because of her temperament and I've posted her with full disclosure about her HD. Right now there are no changes on her femoral head and an untrained eye won't see that there is anything wrong with her.

 

I just knew from the very beginning that this is how it would go. I've NEVER had such a wet puppy with this amount of laxity before. I think she's the perfect example how genetics can be passed down through the generations and it's killing me. Her personality and temperament is whats striking. She's a kids dog. She'd get lost in the woods with a kid and I'm pretty sure at 15 months of age, you wouldn't see any environmental issues especially since she'd get confidence through the handler. However, I'd most likely still have washed her because of that.
