valk, I had some very positive experiences with them a few years ago. as they were very helpful to many people. also very active in their club and titling their dogs. I don't exactly know them or their program, so why don't you contact them.

once again I see how it is never productive to mention anyone by name or kennel and wish I had just kept my fingers off the keyboard.

I don't know you either, I do find your insights/experience very interesting, but I think it's bull shit that anything that comes up contrary to your opinion requires an explanation. and I'm the last one qualified to give an opinion on anyone's program unless it's maybe a few Am. S/L.

Rick, no insidious meaning behind my question.
i did look his website and noticed that kennel run with both types, show and eastern dogs.
i heard about attempts by breeders to utilize DDR dogs right after reunification of Germany, to improve health and temperament of show breeding of former W.Germany.
that didn't turn out well and eventually such experiment was abandoned. it was 25~30 years ago.
that's why i got curious about this breeder. typically better to learn on someone else mistakes what he obviously didn't.

From the pedigree I would say he is mostly West German Show Lines. Enjoy every moment with him he looks to be very sweet and biddable. Good Luck with him.

nans, I see 25 % showline, for the rest several nice lines, mother is a Hikary Warpeco daughter, can say that Hikary Warpeco is on of the best/nicest dogs I worked and sold to USA, seen some real nice offspring off of him in LE and IPO sport, so all together think this can be a very nice pup

it's just a little past annoying that a newbie finds this site, asks such a simple question as "what is my GSD" and immediately anyone replying or trying to be helpful is put into defense. it's the old Kohler method of flanking.

it wasn't that long I had no idea. and every thread does not have to turn into the down trend of the GSD. everyone is not born with complete and total knowledge of the GSD.

sometimes it's enough to be as helpful as possible. most intelligent people who care and stick with the GSD will figure it out.

and just IMOO, the OP made an excellent choice in not only his dog, but in choosing
a very good breeder in the U.S.

The wife of the couple that runs Huerta Hof used to post on this board, and I, too, found her helpful and knowledgeable, and an asset to the board.

Agree and where are they now??

by Nans gsd on 31 October 2020 - 15:10

Thank you Duke 1965 for the help was just really focusing on Huerta Hof and Kistha Haus. Kistha is working lines I believe; not familiar with the others too much. Loved Kistha's boy with the goggles. At one time wanted a pup out of him. Did not happen though. OH happy days. Nan

So many people want to sit in judgement of the attempts of others choices in breeding practice when they have no idea what one was hoping to achieve. The breeders of that dog has a history of success in their choices. Just because you donot like the particular lines someone else chooses do t mean the next one won t, and yes, Valik, you who I am referring to. You appear to be an eXpert in everything German Shepherd. The simplest question by someone gets your expert knock down on why would anyone do that. I have mixed the lines and have had great resulto having several dogs born here in the US become certified police k9, several involved in sport, most just greatly lived family members and there were reasons I chose to breed this one and that one. Those being 'my" reasons. I don t reed to please everyone if at the end of the day I am happy with my choices and the person and people that have my dogs are happy, then I made a good choice.
Now you wonder why they chose the dogs they did, how about we put this shoe on other foot , your foot, and you tell us bout the dogs you have, what can we gather about these dogs listed to you,

for me success in breeding means consistency and predictability of matting outcomes.
why Geico is not among breeding stud dogs in that kennel, if he was result of successful matting?
what word "success" means for you?

i'm not and never was a breeder but have seen, worked and did own many dogs from a truly good non commercial breeding.
did i become expert? in regard of practical working GSDs - i'm. and that expertise was gained during many years of personal experience.
i never get involved in discussion about show breeding GSDs because never had interest to dogs, whose qualities is an everything what german shepherd breed shouldn't be but obviously can't stay quiet when i see that for some ppl the breed is not yet enough screwed and they continue to experiment toward worse.

b.t.w. what wrong have you found with last my dog Siegie, that you even provided link to :) ?
