I'd be impressed if a lot of dogs going overseas and coming back titled only had a weak hold and bark, but could do the rest.  It's not all that uncommon to get a dog that is doing less than when it left.  Can't heel, can't track, can't out, can't do anything.  Looks like they sat in a kennel for 6 months till the papers were signed, then sent home with a title.  I wish it wasn't so.

I used to think people were making this stuff up, till I witnessed it first hand.

Sorry for seemign completely desnse but what are ghost trials/midnight trials?

From what peopel ahve said (happy to stand corrected) my understanding is that people send their GSDs to Germany to be titled. The dogs are away from their owners/handlers/families for a number of months and get sent hiome with the relevant paperwork.

If the dogs can't do as much when they return home as they canwhen they first went, does this mean there's no further training, no trials, no real or genuine titles? So are dogs receiving paperwork saying they're titled when in fact they are not?

Stumpywop, for me  the most ironic part is that we still keep sending our dogs over there to the same trainers.

Some of us have been telling you this stuff for years....and we were the worst people in the world....Tsk Tsk.  The handwriting has been on the wall for decades now and the apologist have stauchly defended these things as nonexistant and BASHING. I guess better late than never??????

Gustav, too bad there are no reliable dog trainers or dog breeders in the US, isn't it?

It was suggested to me several (seven) years ago that I didn't need to bother training my GSL, that I could just send him to Germany and buy a schH title. Better yet, just send his papers and buy a title, I was told. So I've known about this fraud for years. By the way, I did train him myself and titled him.

"Well, there was a posting, that was quite interesting - about fake trials, I believe you call them "Ghost Trials" , a guy wrote about one of them to the SV, and published it here on PDB - it was gone in no time."

Uli,

There was no thread/post deleted unless it was in a different name. Please quit blaming and flaming us as we did not touch the thread or post. The OP went back inside the post and edited it out and you want to blame us? We did not touch it. Please get your facts straight before you blame the admins and or this site.

I may be a little naive here....but it's a lot like kids...Why have them if you aren't going to raise them yourself!!!
