Do you do any sport work with your dogs? If so how are they in their work on the field?

Wanderlust - if you are looking for a puppy to do sport, I would go to a breeder who trains in the sport you are interested in....

The best of my dogs for sport would be SG Ikon Von Wolfstraum. He's an Ufo/Xito grandson and could be a top level competition dog in that kind of home. Here, he's my buddy and does pet therapy. I would be shocked if Ikon ever backed off from any threat no matter how intense. The 3 from Von Hayden would be good club level dogs, able to title, but I don't think I see them as competitive for high scores. Pet therapy, herding, agility, AKC obedience, Rally, Fly ball, Dock Diving they'd do fine. Ikon is probably THE most level headed dog I've ever owned, or at least in the top two. (Have had GSD's since the early 70's).
I think that there will be a repeat of their "J" litter (Jaguar von Wolfstraum, Jyce and Jagr). Very nice pedigree, combining Ufo von Guys Hof with Tom V L. Their conformation as well as the mental and physical soundness is there. All the pups from that litter are started in Schutzhund, and doing great. I wish I'd gotten a dog like Ike when I was much younger, and physically able to train for Schutzhund, but I adore this guy, and wouldn't part with him for any price.

I just got 2 Von Hayden pups on Thursday (Oct 25), sisters out of Vader/Gaya... LOVE THEM!!! They are 5 months old and have no fear and tons of confidence... I got to meet Vader who was an absolute pleasure and gorgeous dog!! I plan on starting training with them next week and I am looking very forward to it!!! Kim was great to deal with and very easy going, it was nice to meet a responsible breeder, both pups look great and current on everything!! =) It was obvious that she is responsible... Good luck!! E

Blkdog, glad to hear you're pleased with your new pups. Just out of curiousity, did their registration paperwork arrive with them? That seems to be the primary problem that's cropped up WRT this particular breeder. It would be encouraging to learn that you weren't added to the list of those who didn't receive the paperwork WITH the pup[s].

We were told by the Breeder that she does not give out papers on the dogs until they are Titled in at least SCH 1 or certified as a Police Dog, (which is what we plan on doing with ours) I don't know anyone who received papers with their pups before this time unless they are Spade and Neutered. The mother of our pup Quella von Hayden is Titled Sch3 and the Sire is Xpresso von Hayden he is not Titled but we're told is a Certified & Active Police K9.
Our von Hayden pup is 6 months old, No papers yet, but he will be certified in Police when he's a little older so we should receive our papers then as the Breeder said . We were told by the breeder she does this to ensure the lines of the dogs which I understand some may not, but we are pleased with our pup, very intelligent and confident, I don't think anything could break his spirit this is true for most of the von Hayden pups it seems . So when he receives his certification for Police and I request his papers from the Breeder I'll keep you all informed :)
We did not meet the parents I believe Xpresso (Kona) was gone he was there temporarily to breed, we would have met Quella however we got lost in the West by God Hills because we used a GPS and it took us up old mining trails ( really not enough room for ONE car) I looked out the window I was overlooking the edge...ever watch Deliverance? We called and Kims hubby Matt answered and looked us up on the google maps and laughed. That's when we knew we were really lost! So being stressed and filled with tons of anxiety we found a small area to turn around and made the long drive back down the mountain. Matt and Kim decided to meet us at a McDonalds instead of continuing to their residence, we were more than happy to do that. A day we'll never forget :)

So many alarm bells ringing in the last couple of posts !!!
Papers retained.
2 5-month litter sisters sold together.
No sight of either parent.
Untitled dog who is "an active Police K9"
Now where I have heard all that hokum before ?

I don't understand the issue if the dog is not titled in Schutzhund but is a certified Police K9? I work at a Police Dept and our K9 is not Titled in Schutzhund, unless you misunderstood? :)

Its up to the buyer, but I would never buy a pup, where the papers were not handed within the next few months, without any requirements to title. There are enough good breeders who will give you the papers. The seller has the right to be discriminative, as to whom they sell, but restricting buyers rights is unacceptable to me.

Just part of the total picture that is emerging, Theskridge, I appreciate
not all working K9s have sports or breed survey etc titles; that isn't
what I was getting at. (See also what e.g. Susie has posted on a new
thread; plus an ongoing conversation on the thread specifically about
how do you tell a genuine police dog - sorry I'm finding links a bit
complicated still or I'd post them).
