Neither. I got ASAT and haven't gone back! My trial lead is leather but only b/c I don't have the same length/style in ASAT...yet.... I use ASAT for obediece, tracking lines, protection lines, taking my dogs on a walk, putting my escape artist on a long line at the park, you name it. I've seen too many so called "quality" leather leads just snap, the texure blisters my hands and dries out my skin, plus I hate wet, dirty leather.
I get a 33' ASAT line and use it to make shorter obedience leads, tabs, a 15' protection line, etc.
My long ASAT lines don't have handles/hoops. My shorter leash does but I only use it for walking, it's never a drag line.

I love that synthetic leather. It doesn't get the gross wet leather feel when it's wet, plus it goes straight into the washing machine. I hate when wet leather dries all crispy, too.

I like the ray allen synthetic leads. They are grippy and can be properly cleaned... Anything that can possibly absorb bodily fluids is a compromise to me and my dog.
